So about diversity and being "woke", in the early 90s Grunge was a huge thing and it spawned a lot of sub-genres. But the people in those side scenes realized that only white people were participating in it, so they collectively decided to abandon the scenes due to it not being diverse enough. There was no corporate figure dictating this, nor a twitter mob, the proto-woke people of the early 90s decided if something is too white it shouldn't exist, even if it was their own scene.
These people have an inherit drive to diversify and be "inclusive" even if that means driving away the core fans and destroying everything.

In regards to that one cover...

I can't say I feel bad for him being booted, cause why would you defend that cover? I showed that cover to a lot of people, and a majority of the responses were between "why does she look fat?", "MILF" and "Is that really supposed to be Wonder Woman?". Like, I'm not that old, and I'm still in the crowd of "this isn't my Wonder Woman", cause she's supposed to be a symbol of power, not a fucking soccer mom looking ass wamen.

Honestly, I'm pretty sure the layoff is more related to them getting rid of 1/3 of their editorial staff in advance of eliminating 25% of their comics line, and the fact that he doesn't really edit their top-selling stuff, than it is this one specific tweet. Though he does have a history of being adversarial toward fans who disagree with him, so I suppose that probably didn't help either.

Suprised they're still alive, and i think i know why. Take for example The Creatures. The Creatures failed exactly because they were trying to pander to a younger audience.
Here's a video on their entire history by doggowithbread. Essentially, drama regarding the "no dating" clause caused the only funny people left to jump ship and declare independence thereby also killing the channel since there was literally no reason to watch it anymore. I assume the entire reason RT hasn't died off yet is because the audience is still attached to certain people or projects in the group.

With how incredibly autistic the RWBY fandom is and with how hard they defend their mediocre-at-best show, you're probably not far off the mark there.

GameAttack did the same. Now Craig Skistimas has left Game Attack to start a podcast.

I'm not one for the whole "you only got hired because you're black"

but...I always found it curious. Did you ever look into Fiona or Alfredo? Like actually look at their youtube channels? Fiona is like sub 5,000 subscribers, I think Alfredo was sub 10,000. If that.

What got them hired? What got them in the door? What even got them noticed?

I just remember this quote from Burnie, about how people would show up at Roosterteeth wanting to work for Achievement Hunter and his response was always "You can't just sit infront of a screen and play video games. Those guys? when they get together they make magic. If you want to do it with them you need to prove you can do it alone first."

Everyone else getting hired made sense. Ryan applied for an IT job and slowly started appearing in videos. Michael had a video with millions of views. Gavin met Burnie and Geoff or some shit. Ray was a big member of the community guides, Jeremy and Matt were big members of the community guides.

And Alfredo and Fiona were....not white....I guess...

Based on what is easily available, Alfredo did behing the scenes work for IGN as an associate producer, then became a livestreamer before getting hired by RT to handle things for streaming. I know he started getting included in videos because he was considered actually good at the games he played, and AH wanted to mine that to make videos where they did stuff like the Destiny raids.

So he may have been hired for behind the scenes stuff which he could be competent at, but got placed in front of the camera without him actually being good infront of the camera.

It wasn't just the "no dating" rule. It was a mix of James' (Uberhaxornova) ideas being constantly shot down, which then culminated in a video where James was told their update videos were reduced to once a week. And then Jordan (Kootra) broke the "no dating" rule and brought Stephani on, even though they were very obviously dating, which pissed James off more to the point he pulled a prank on Stephani that no one was in on.

Also didn't help Jordan did stupid shit on their road trips, like dragging the gang to the oldest Del Taco, only to eat their dog shit food and bounce asap.

The Del Taco arc was a fucking monument to their sheer comedic genius, they went through all the stages of grief in only a few minutes. Also didn't say it was solely due to the "no dating" clause. It was a huge part of it though, specifically of how Jordan wouldn't hold himself to the rules that he set.

One of the saddest parts for me about Ray leaving Achievement Hunter is despite him being my favorite out of the group, I just couldn't get into his twitch streams. Solo Ray just isn't the same as Ray in that group dynamic, playing off of everyone else.
My problem with solo Ray streams is that it feels like it's devolved from Ray putting on a funny show to fans giving him large sums of money to interrupt the show with one of his meme donation alerts.

Given I still like the guy, I think that's a good problem for him to have.

I noticed you did not mention Fiona.

Look, I don't hate the man for hustling, I just don't like the hustle.

Oh, well that's because she literally has nothing of value for RT to hire her for. She was a cos-thot/twitch thot. I can't see any reason why she was hired outside of "woman of color that does the video gaemz."

He was gonna get cut no matter what, the fact it happened right after a passive-aggressive bit of virtue signalling is just a bit of delicious irony gravy.

She's the Jemelle Hill of AH, except you can trade the overt anti-white soapboxing with the most intolerable voice you can imagine..... 20 seconds of her squeaky motormouth makes me actually wish I could trade her for a normal-voiced person that WOULD racebait all the time... she's not bad, she's not a "fake gamer", but when I'm tuning in to be entertained by a Let's Play she doesn't "fit" because she's just not that funny and grates like nails on a chalkboard.

I feel for the much-better and much-funnier options that got turned away for not being a double-multiplier minority/woman.

Ray was someone that every group needs to keep shit balanced. He was the funniest/best gamer out of the whole group. After he left there's nobody that can riff off eachothers humor well. He was my favorite along side Ryan, but even he lost he straightman/pyscho personality after a while. If you want the last good let's play with him look up the rainbow six vegas 1 co-op and terrorist hunt.

I miss the slow burn of watching him go from mildly annoyed to eventually punching things every time Gavin would teamkill him through incompetence....
