Maddox strikes me as being a bit like Matt Jarbo. He's not a good person but he has been fucked with for a very long time by Dick and Dick's fans and if he came out and talked about it it would be interesting. He's got a lot more dirt on Dick than Jarbo had since they used to be partners until Dick shafted him. Not being able to find the post about porn addiction turning someone trans is driving me nuts, but seeing how many people seem to have made somewhat similar, but much less quality posts about having the exact same thing happen to them via porn addiction is definitely making this funnier. Seriously, the internet is apparently awash in stories like that about people who were normal and self-inserted as their gender in the porn then things went haywire for them when they got addicted, and they started self-inserting as the opposite gender which gave them a ton of dysphoria problems.

I've listened to books on tape many times, I just find much more enjoyment watching the stupidity of random internet people than I do even the best of books anymore.

Also, yep, the porn thing is very prevalent. There is also fishy info about kickstarter scams that Dax cosigns the main three people point to being Reily pretending he was gonna go homeless, Hazencruz pretending he was gonna go homeless cause he quit his job to be an internet weirdo 24/7, and the guy whose wife died but has an onlyfans account.

I think you've got something with them taking advantage of the mercy of the hosts. People like Digibro love to flirt with that line of legality, letting people know they're into horrific shit without ever saying enough publicly to where any law enforcement would take it seriously. They don't want to just jack off in private, they want you to KNOW they're doing it, and they'll utilize whatever method they can to make it known, whether it's one of the chans, or the host of a popular podcast.

Right now, they're probably harder than ever watching Dick defend them. They want people to know that not only can do they do this and there's nothing you can do about it since it's not "illegal", but also that people with "clout" will defend their actions and make it all the more acceptable. Keep an eye on Ralph and Hazen for a bit. It looks like Dick and Dick Jr. are going to try and make a redemption arc off the corpse of Hazencruz because he had a dramatic falling out with some e-celeb. Normally this would be par for the course but Hazen already was very wounded from the public falling out with Dax. Ralph tends to waive the war trophey's he collects around FOREVER and he is looking to make Hazen (someone he claims he is cool with) into one.

Normally this in no big deal, but Hazen quit working a real job to be a full time internet personality. Taking that away from him is backing a wounded animal into a corner and putting him into a position where he has nothing to lose.

You're gonna have to square that circle for me.

Even the highest long-term capital gain rate at 20% is well below what you'd pay on 1099 income (income tax rate + self-employment tax @ a whopping 15.3%) for a media podcast (not even taking into account being able to deduct the basis since it's a cap gain which is another major factor in favor of capital gains). I'm Certain Dax's normal income tax bracket alone is over 20% because you could make dog-shit for income and hit that. A short-term capital gain is taxed as income (again deducting the basis which you wouldn't take advantage of if you "laundered" it that way), so if he "laundered" it that way he would only be forcing himself to pay the additional self-employment tax.

If he was paid crypto and didn't recognize the income, he could presumably avoid the taxes on the front end, but appreciation of the crypto would again be taxed at a much higher rate than the capital gains rate.

This theory only makes sense to me if
1) he failed to recognize crypto d'nations as income and doesn't want to have a potential fine/legal fight with the IRS
2) he doesn't recognize cypto and then recognizes it as it plummets in value as compared to his illegal basis expecting it to rebound after he "launders" it so he doesn't have to pay as much taxes on recognition of receiving the crypto. That's a seriously risky gamble with a lot of moving parts, high time investment, and likely minimal payout.
