Funi can eat a dick. There is not a single pirate in the history of the world who has been convinced to stop by wailing, moaning, complaining, cajoling, preaching, threatening, or any of this other piss weak bullshit. Nobody cares. People will pay for a decent service. They will not pay for the shit sandwich Funi/CR are offering no matter how much you insult them.

Back around the turn of the century, the music industry was having a huge problem with piracy. Sites like Napster were allowing people to share music for free, and piracy was becoming a default way to obtain music. Then, Steve Jobs stepped up and flooded everyone's Apple computers with messages about what awful people they were and how the music industry deserved their money even if it meant buying a $20 cd to get the one song you were interested in, or whatever other stupid complaint those horrific pirates might have had. And that was what saved the music industry.

Either that, or Steve Jobs created ITunes, where a comprehensive catalog of pretty much any song you could think of was available for super cheap, and then suddenly everyone started using that despite the fact they had to pay, because it had benefits (reliable quality, etc) that the pirated versions didn't have.

It's almost like what you're saying has played out in the market before and proven you 100% correct.

To be fair, that YouTube channel currently consists of what appears to be a bunch of old series which wouldn't have much appeal except to Japanese boomers. It all looked like it was from the '80s at the newest. So even if all that stuff gets English dubs, it won't be a threat to Crunchyroll and Funimation, as I presume the majority of Western fans are more interested in newer, if not absolutely brand new, stuff. It's absolutely hyperbolic clickbait to say this spells the end of Crunchy and Funi.

Can I now say Caitlin is KV?

Apparently, this might have something to do with this.

I wonder who he could possibly be talking about.

Also Americans should be ashamed and disgusted a country like Japan can look at the United States and our plague of cancerous SJWs, and conclude, disgracefully correctly, that they enjoy greater freedom there than they can expect in America.

When Japan sells its art here, vandals, like that cunt Jamie Marchi, vandalize and mutilate them before the public gets to see them.

Absolutely pig disgusting.
Knew it, Akamatsu did that awesome speech and only told the actual truth of the matter, so if they want to make us gaijin enjoy their content they know that only they can translate it to us without any bs. :feels:
I always found it funny how people that in the US works in the anime industry seem to have a very big hate for it and its fans, I mean why the fuck are you working there then since the pay isn't high and you clearly don't enjoy working there and likely have much better options anyway? Then they compliment each other anytime they publish a butchered anime/manga like it was some epic feat...I never understood that and don't think I ever will, here in my country this stuff stopped happening way back like in the 2000-2010 and whenever we get something now, at least is faithful to the original work and doesn't contain a single line out of the fat ass of Jamie and her absolutely disgusting ilk. :achievement:
I saw a tweet talking about this anime channel and someone said that this could be the start of gatekeeping in Japan, and the lengths it would go to would depend on the actions of the West.

That's....disappointing. And even then, there's no gurantee that it'll gain a following outside of Japan, or if you can watch it outside Japan.

Well, it could be that some don't know how chain blocks work, or the extent they do, or it could be as some Kiwis say that she's keeping appearances because of the atmosphere of Funimation and the alleged Sabat influence since she hasn't openly said anything either way.

"we dont know how the YouTube channel will work". In what way can a service that provides the bulk of the anime catalog for free, with subs (the way most weebs prefer to watch anime) in a way that circumvents their current contracts with the western distributors be anything other than a disaster for Funi and Crunchy? This is honestly terrible for vrv too, and theyre one of the better ways to watch anime for money rn. Then again, they'll probably stay afloat on their podcasts, RT and Boomerang

Honestly, I don't think I can make a judgment call until titles are announced for the channel .

We have a recent Lupin release with a hermaphrodite Nazi villain. They were legitimately contemplating on changing the Japanese script in the subtitles cause it was offensive. They only ended up changing the villain's name which was a pun on the word hermaphrodite. They also decided to include an essay by formerly broken staircase member Justin Sevakis. And some additional linear notes on it. Angel Cop also had a similar lecture attached to it.

The other which I only saw due to the recent Lupin spiel, is they changed the script to Samurai Pizza Cat's sub track due to being offensive. When they got on Crunchyroll they supposedly changed it back.

The fact they have already done this is cause for concern already (as if having ANN staff in the company wasn't enough). Despite boasting about wanting to conserve media they are more than willing to censor.

Can you elaborate
What was the original name
What essay

And what was offensive about SPC?

The Big Cheese being a raging faggot for one thing, but a lot of risqué jokes were changed for the sub although it may be due to it being a "kids' show" so they had to tone down the jokes for the kiddies (similar to what Pioneer did for Magical Project S, as little as there was), or because someone got their jimmies rustled over it. I also imagine the "Gender Bender Butterflies" episode got under some troon staff's skin.

I am curious as to which release was more popular, though. They might've expected the dub-release to sell more so no one would've ever noticed the sub-release having the changes made to it, especially since it was a rather obscure show to find (quality) subs of at the time.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Where are you getting this "bulk of the anime catalog" stuff? Again, if what's there currently is any indication, it will just be featuring a few older titles for nostalgia's sake. Don't buy into the clickbait that there's any indication this silly little channel is going to change the world.
