in Latam our cartoon elephants go the other way around and become thinner. Like Kelvin from Choco Krispis (the localized branding of Cocoa Krispies), he used to be fat, then got fit, probably marketers thought they shouldn't endorse the cereal as fattening, so they started using him more doing sports and stuff. It was an unkind act of fat erasure by the cereal industry

Edit: Also the implication that large breasts are inherently sexual. Real women have to deal with people assuming they're sluts because they have big boobs and by removing her breasts instead of making the shirt fall more modestly is directly contributing to that.

Chile had similar bans in place before and Tony the tiger is prohibited there, no furfagotry in sugary cereals allowed.

hearing about fat acceptance in other countries is really interesting. i thought it was just something that happened in north america (and the UK) i would have thought that since obesity is lower in europe and other places, fat acceptance wouldn't be such a big thing.

Damn, for me it was surreal that suddenly people made a fuss over the Conguitos mascot. It was like women suddenly complaining at Ibañez that Ophelia is a laughingstock and Ema is a sex object. But now that's water over the bridge.

Still, the thing about killing cereal mascots is a good idea since they are kinda the catch to get people to buy high sugar content cereal. But the way it is presented in the news makes it look terribly stupid.

I don't know in the rest of Europe, but in Spain we had a few lone crusaders fighting for fat acceptance, but the movement came and went like spit on a pavement on a hot day. Nowadays there is some fatties that will grill you about "muh fatphobia", but in Spain at least parents put their foot down and curb troublesome or idiotic behaviour unless they are filthy rich, in which case their kids become proto-lolcows or spoiled brats without a sense of respect of obligation towards others.
