About 13 years ago my history teacher told us that "if everyone in America paid off their debt, our economy would collapse."

Right now it seems like the system is over heating because there isn't enough payoff from going into debt to cover the costs. (I.e. we can supply the demands we have so there isn't much of a reason for expansion.)

People won't even realize this is going to happen until after the election. The people who will do this will play it close to the vest and are likely to even tell pollsters that they plan on a straight-ticket Democratic vote. They'll only tick those GOP boxes with the curtain pulled at the polling place.

Honestly, this is one of the reasons I don't like the idea of mail-in voting. It's easy for households with mail-in ballots to have everyone do it at the kitchen table, and what, you want to do it in secret, do you have something to hide?

The privacy of the ballot box means you can betray your friends or family to do what your conscience tells you is the right thing, and no one will find out. You only have to answer to yourself.

When we lose that, we lose something crucial about voting.

Indianapolis chatter that I hear is that while they don't have the huge riots like Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, Atlanta etc there is an uneasiness.
Downtown is still a boarded up mess, and the homeless and the druggies are getting more bold with their creeping instead of lurking in the shadows like before.
At night LOUD cars and motorcycles are racing up and down the streets, well more than usual anyway. The cops drive through and they go do it in another part of the city. I'm sure the gas stations are thrilled with the uptick in sales.
Lots of businesses are having their windows broken. Random? Bored teens? Failed burglary? Maaaaybe....
Thing is, for as many trashy black folk Indianapolis has, there are also a lot of corn-fed country folk, or people that are one generation removed from it. They are the type that if they hear breaking glass they don't wring their hands in despair, they load the gun or grab a bat and investigate. That's probably one of the things that has kept the city standing. Here's hoping they keep it up.
