Curious here. We obviously throw the word autistic around a lot. Not well versed in it personally, so I have little idea what autism really looks like. Does anybody who knows what they're talking about think he would actually be diagnosed autistic? (or something that would get him disability)
He has mentioned being diagnosed bipolar (which can be the basis of getting disability) but that it was back when he was a kid.
Speaking of disability I notice a distinct lack of response to this accusation. Might he be staying silent because it's too close to the truth? Then again he'd probably be complaining about caseworkers.
Definitely not cripplingly so. The big thing about autism spectrum disorder is that people on the spectrum lack theory of mind, meaning they are unable to imagine feelings or experiences from another's perspective without needing to cognitively put effort towards doing so. This affects little things, such as people on the spectrum not yawning in response to seeing another person yawn, to social interactions, such as responding to a statement like "nice day, huh" as if it was a prompt to discuss how their day was, in fact, not nice. Which, coincidentally, Louis has done.
Does Louis have ASD for sure? No, because he would need to have the money and patience to let a psychologist prod his brain for a few hours a day. Is there a possibility he has it? I would respond with "more so than not." While there's other symptoms of ASD, a lacking theory of mind is the biggest one, and you can see this looking at his past behaviors. He is unable to understand why people can see through his lies when he presents the evidence showing otherwise himself, because he thinks people can't connect the dots, especially not if he explicitly explains what sort of moon logic he has that doesn't make him a scammer. He doesn't get why people are angry at him when he takes money and spends it on porn and electronics, he only sees that they're angry at him for some inconceivable reason, and so he has a right to be angry right back at them. He can't comprehend that there are people who are much worse off than him because he can only understand hardships if they're happening specifically to him. He insults people who disagree with him because he believes they are wrong solely because he thinks he's right, and doesn't understand how he seems cruel or antagonizing when he belittles people being kind to him all the way up to cancer patients speaking to him. He doesn't understand that his reach isn't as high as he likes to think it is when he tries to grift from celebrities and politicians who realistically would have no idea he even existed, because how could they
not know who Louis is when he has evidence showing that there are people who know about him? My personal favorite is when he made an account on Kiwifarms and thought one person's offer to never speak about him applied to everyone there, and then when people played along and agreed to a deal which involved following the rules already in place on Kiwifarms, he announced part of the deal he didn't mention until after it was "accepted" and acted like that was understood by everyone all along.
There's other symptoms that he also expresses that you can pick out without the finer details, though. When he speaks, in the few instances of footage we have of him speaking, he does so in a flat monotone. He claims to be "asexual" (which he isn't), but he most likely means "aromantic," as romantic relationships aren't something most people on the spectrum can grasp. His regular discarding and purchasing of new fursonas shows a high level of particularity. He's highly isolationist, opting to only socialize with people when he wants money or pity. He has dyscalculia to the point he doesn't fathom the value of money, and although this is because he's never worked for anything before, it's taken to the such an extreme that he believes $500 a realistic and appropriate price for a pair of socks or the same with $50 and some lettuce; this is also expressed in things like believing a mere 200 feet or so from his house was a mile, although both are hard to tell since they could feasibly be lies. He doesn't have a social filter, bringing up he's a virgin or has smelly farts for no perceptible reason. And, the most evident of all, he despises anything and everything that forces him to deviate from his perceived norm. For instance, he has a ritual involving waddling to Wal Mart to get the same crappy food he eats every day regardless of his health or availability of other foods, and has an extreme loyalty to Apple products to the point that he seems to have a psychological drive to continue purchasing it.
Anyway, to summarize, I'd say "it's a strong possibility" The thing is, people on the spectrum can be not much different from everyone else beyond being humbly "quirky," assuming they're on the high-functioning end of it. They certainly aren't destined to be failures Louis. If he had no disorders of any kind and was in the peak of his health, he'd still be a lazy slob and lying grifter who treats others like trash, he'd just be more subtle about it, and being on the spectrum does not explain nor excuse his behavior, it only serves as a reasoning behind his stupid habits and responses. Him having ASD merely helps ascend an otherwise annoying and fat scam artist into the heights of hilarity, if not aggravation.
