Won't it just be paid for by medicare since faith has no income? Additionally, it's not like they can refuse you treatment at the ER so I don't see why she couldn't keep go and just never pay.

I think it was more probably went like this - Ralph and Faith wanted to hook up. Maybe he was going to see Dax and one of them was like, 'Hey you will be in Cali, let's meet up.'. Maybe Ralph was going to stay at Dax's to begin with, and instead of getting a hotel for the first meeting with your girl like someone more classy would do, you still stay at Dax's because, why spend cash when you can get something for free (see all the free museums as an example)? And Dax thinks he's helping out a friend, not caring that she basically lied to her family to get there because, it's not his kid after all. Would it be more interesting if it was a pedo grooming ring? Yes. But I imagine the much simpler answer is they are just cheap degenerates.
I remember in the early days of covid Dax was planning some sort of event that he had to cancel, Maddox's funeral or something, and Ralph was complaining about it getting canceled because he wasn't going to be able to go to L.A. and "get my dick wet" (exact quote). It stuck in my mind because it was so incredibly skeevy, at the time it sounded like he expected Dax to just provide him with a slut but now it seems like he was planning to meet up with Faith. I'm not sure of the timeline but it must have been at least a month before the actual LA trip, maybe more. We will probably find out tonight.

Sure, most teenagers have a rebellious phase where they make mistakes. These are usually more like an in-town inappropriate relationship that ends with no real harm done (no major sex tapes posted), partying too much and failing a class or a few (only to use that as a wake-up call and reset with a lot more maturity), minor drug addiction like smoking pot every day (more iffy, but more often than not successfully intervened after a while), moving away and cutting contact for up to a year (only to realize that parental dosh really does help and actually you kinda like a miss your parents), lying to your family and sneaking out (totally normal really, but typically not nearly as severe), onset of mental health issues being comorbid with these (again very normal, but typically the kid is fine with confidentially seeing a therapist once a week).
I think Jim Carrey would be a good Dax.

A lot of states will let you carry as long as you weren't committed involuntarily. Which is a good policy, sometimes sane people need an acute psych visit because life stress has made them question if they should keep going, or they had a weird reaction to medication taken for a non psychiatric reason, etc. Shit happens.
