I’d never heard this before and it makes a lot of sense to me. Especially if you’re a perfectionist, it’s so easy to “let the perfect become the enemy of the done,” so that the project you were so excited about becomes a source of immense stress. If you’ve never experienced this, I’m happy for you because it’s awful.I agree with that assessment. I did an audio edit of Jim in his early days about just losing interest in a topic.
Some creatives really shine at coming up with ideas and overall narrative, but struggle with the tedious grunt work of execution. That’s one of the hazards of being a one-man band without a team to take direction and execute on your vision. Jim isn’t unique in this.
