"Ok, let me get my inner autist flowing.
There are plenty (international) developers who post on their very own forums/websites/blogs/developer chat-hour on some videogame based sites like Gamestar, Double Fine, Twitter, Reddit AMA, the European PS blog for instance and plenty more. There are also lots of sites like develop-online.net, gamesindustry.biz & gamasutra where only certified industry people post. Only developer/press people from the U.S. post on neogaf... and just the small-time annoying, attention seeking ones. Most game developers just don't care about mouthbreathers i.e. the average gaming enthusiast or how idiots like to call it, "Hardcore Gamer". They consider those enthusiast sites and people who post their (such as neogaf) as annoying manchildren; they roll their eyes when you mention neogaf to them. Because most developers/industry people are well-adjusted, really intelligent and reasonable people who actually know what they are doing/talking about, so they avoid those places like the pest.
Every gaming related thread on neogaf consists of, knee-jerk reactions, people who didn't read the op, 20/30-something year old people who act like overexcited 12 year olds over trivial videogame news or a new heavily scripted trailer, fake cynicism, fake outrage, pseudo insider who are most of the time wrong, pseudo technology talk worse than on beyond3d with people who act as if the really know what they talking about but can't even get the basics right - who are even more clueless about tablets/smartphones, display technology and other gadgets, hypersensitive SJW, an unhealthy amount of members with kpop/anime/pony avatars, animated gifs instead of real meaningful posts, bad jokes i.e. annoying juvenile hive mind memes like, "bomba, first post nails it, based cerny/bandera" etc. Offtopic consists of social retards & narcissistic gay/transsexual people who talk about the newest Hollywood gossip 24/7. I haven't checked neogaf in quite a while but I seriously doubt it has changed much.
...and when there is a real discussion going on it's about the most trivial shit no normal consumer should ever care about at all. Imagine a group of really boring people talking about Media Create, NPD sales numbers. People who don't own stocks or are in any way, shape or form involved in the videogame industry other than owning a mass produced entertainment product; the world's most boring people who care way too much about multi-billion dollar corporations and their cheap plastic toys. Granted, there are some alright members (always liked StuBurns) and some (very few) interesting discussions going on over there but guess what, even on sites like gamefaq's forums you can encounter them once in a while. You can find interesting debates on pretty much every forum no matter how bad the stigma & userbase is. It's not really different on neogaf, for every reasonable member there are 1000's of mind-boggling idiots like Wynnebeck (biggest manchild I've ever seen), Derrick01 (banned, feels good man, that guy was mentally ill & I'm not even joking). Everything that came out of their gobs was wrong. Everything.
People who keep posting how awesome neogaf is and the rest are just mad & salty (or whatever hive mind terminology/meme they use now) will change their mind when they are perma-banned. Don't worry, it will happen no matter what. No matter how strict the moderation is, geek forums will always be awful most of the time. You just can't punch the mouthbreather attitude out of them. Just avoid video game forums, especially the overly enthusiastic ones. It speaks volumes when you can find better discussions at places with almost no moderation like imageboards. If you must use small forums with a manageable userbase who know each other for discussions matters/eFriendship.
And yes, I was a neogaf member from 2006 til 2011 but had only like 200 posts (I think), how else would I know all this? But I rarely visited the site and posted there. I got banned because I talked bad about some mods favourite plastic toy. Well, I was actually just quoting a 2k Czech developer and what he said about the PS3 development and a mod got really, REALLY offended by it. Don't get me started on all the annoying weeaboos, extremist transsexuals and SJW on that site; their motto is, "Fight for women's rights by day, wank off to rape hentai porn by night." The most hypocritical & delusional people you will ever encounter. They treat their videogames like they treat their women, with unrealistic expectation and tears when they don't turn out like they wanted. Surely, every game should be Dark Souls and made by Platinum games with helpless kawaii underage girls, amiright?"
