Lol, in all seriousness though I would doubt it. Even here in the UK, one of the most anti-gun countries on the planet, you do not need a license or any kind of background check to purchase a fully functional firearm provided it is an antique (i.e. manufactured before 1939 and of obsolete calibre) obtained as a curiosity. Of course you cannot possess ammo or shoot it without a license, but you can obtain it lawfully with no checks:I believe the bo'sun checks in his book to see if you have any outstanding black spots against your name and checks your peg leg for an ankle bracelet. Also if your parrot mentions any pertinent facts about your trustworthiness with firearms the bo'sun will no doubt take those into account.

I could not find a direct source for the US but from what I could find it seems to be very similar to the above, but is applicable to firearms manufactured prior to 1899 instead of 1939. At least I believe that is the case in federal regulations; Virginia law may have additional stipulations.
Regardless I do not think it would be wise for him as a felon to illegally obtain a firearm even if current regulations make it easy for him to do so. The fact that he has openly suggested he is looking into obtaining a black powder firearm before on his show suggests he may be stupid enough to do it.
