Officer-involved shooting under investigation in Kenosha

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58 ) -- An officer-involved shooting investigation is underway in Kenosha on Sunday, Aug. 23.

The shooting happened near 28th Avenue and 40th Street around 5:11 p.m., after officers were called for a "domestic incident."

According to police, officers provided immediate aid to the person. They were transported via Flight for Life to Froedtert in Milwaukee for treatment. The person is in serious condition.

A large crowd gathered near the scene following the shooting.

Kenosha Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol were requested immediately so that the scene could be turned over to an agency other than Kenosha police.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) will handle the investigation.

He was likely going for a gun in the car, but that won't matter. More riots incoming.
I expected them when you had multiple blacks gathering at the crime scene and the one woman in the video stomping her feet like a mad donkey. Don't be surprised CNN and MSNBC comes out the police shot and killed another unarmed black man just because he's black.

Looks justified. Going to be pic related regardless.

Yikes. That doesn’t look good. Hopefully for the officers sake there was a gun in the car.

Edit: It just doesn’t look good and that’s all it takes for bullshit things to happen. I was just hoping there was a gun in the car for a clean and cut case.

To be fair the officer had his gun out from the start, and if he didn't the three officers cold have easily slammed this guy to the ground on the passenger side before he ever got to the drivers side.

The real take away here is the cops bullshit story isn't going to hold any water because there's an actual video of the shooting.

I'm generally supportive of the police but once again the officers let it get to that point before stopping him.

Personally if I shot the video I'd of let the cops hit the media with their bullshit before dropping the video.

A guy who was trying to rob a gas station with a knife this morning in Louisiana got shot by the police. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet and there's rioting happening there.

The only thing that might make this different is the fact that the guy in question isn't dead yet. I would say the fact that Kenosha is only 10% black might help but Portland is only 6% black and well...

And the guy was still walking around like he was the one in charge. There's something seriously wrong with this picture and it isn't what the police officers did.

Why the fuck do a certain segment of black people think that their shit doesn't stink? And why are they allowed to get away with such a backwards outlook on reality. The guy should have gotten down on the ground and gone to be processed like any normal person. You hire a lawyer and play the process out. There would be attorneys lining up to take a case like this in today's climate. Walking away from police officers that have their weapons drawn (presumably for good reason) and then going into your personal vehicle is asking to get blown away.

Nothing this dipshit did was reasonable or wise. There's nothing defensible here. The police were 100% in the right.

They clearly where not very good at restraining him. If you look closely they're trying to pull him out of the car by his shirt, instead of something that doesn't stretch and keeps him in place. Its not clear what is going on on the other side of the van, but they're bending down and he isn't at full height.

I'd bet he was trying to drive away IMO. He clearly didn't mind that they where following him and if he had a gun he could have just got it from the passanger side quicker without walking all the way around.

That's a very different shooting in my opinion. They cops tried to de-escalated that for half a mile and only shot him with the guy tried to get into an occupied gas station.

This is a much worse shooting.

Anyway the officers name is Luke Courtier apparently he has his last name spelled backwards as Luke Reitruoc on Facebook.

The person killed is Jacob Blake.

According to the police departments Facebook he joined the force in 2014.

Shoot to kill.

Basically and it was also even decided on by the Supreme Court, Tennessee v Garner had the Supreme Court rule that if a suspect flees from police and the police have probable cause to believe that the suspect poses a significant threat of death or serious physical injury to the officer or others that they can use deadly force to neutralize the suspect.
