Officer-involved shooting under investigation in Kenosha

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58 ) -- An officer-involved shooting investigation is underway in Kenosha on Sunday, Aug. 23.

The shooting happened near 28th Avenue and 40th Street around 5:11 p.m., after officers were called for a "domestic incident."

According to police, officers provided immediate aid to the person. They were transported via Flight for Life to Froedtert in Milwaukee for treatment. The person is in serious condition.

A large crowd gathered near the scene following the shooting.

Kenosha Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol were requested immediately so that the scene could be turned over to an agency other than Kenosha police.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) will handle the investigation.

The real take away here is the cops bullshit story isn't going to hold any water because there's an actual video of the shooting.
The reason cops tell you to put your hands up is so they can see you aren't going for a weapon.
Walking away and getting into a car in direct defiance of them is pretty much the exact opposite of that, and the second that car door opens they have to fire because waiting around to see what he's doing is how they end up shot. If for example the man was already in the car when they approached him it would be a different story, but this video is clear as day so you can actually go with the it's the system's fault man argument here because they're definitely doing everything by the book and if you want to change the book and get a bunch of cops shot in the face go do that and we'll have that discussion when the time comes.

Authority aside if anyone points a gun at you and tells you to do something, then shoots you when you don't do what they said, you need to be pretty fucking dense to not connect the dots and figure out how you ended up getting shot.

They're all out there now, to yell at the police. I wonder what they would have done 2 hours earlier to intervene in the domestic violence so the police didn't have to be called? It takes a village, no?

This is true and I agree with what's said. Its just wrong in application in America in 2020. If America was a place where the coming riots and protests would be shut down and not allowed to fester and ferment you'd be right but that's not where America is. If the man does not have a gun in his car the cops will be viewed as murderers here. It doesn't matter that legally its justifiable. The perception and the media push will out weigh the legalese of this situation. Continuing to do things like this is stupid in the current atmosphere.

The cops need a better way to deal with non compliance then shooting people to kill. Yes people should just comply. We already know they won't and are celebrated for it while apologetics for their actions are written. Continuing to shoot to kill when we know the pattern of what happens next is dumb and the police are partly culpable in engaging in this retarded cycle. I do not know the solution but there needs to be a better way. This rioting bullshit needs to stop.

Would've liked to see the beginning of this altercation to see why the cops went for shooting him over trying to tackle him when they seemed to have the numbers for it, but after two and a half months of "kill all cops, whites, and right-wingers" I just can't bring myself to care.

It ends up justified? Cool.
It doesn't? Fuck him.

Obviously this was murder but the dude going WAAAAAAAW made me laugh
If you know anything about escalation of force procedures then you know that the shooting itself is justified. Reaching somewhere an officer cannot see as they instruct you not to is going to get you shot. The question is why the officers didn't physically detain the subject before it escalated.

The Car IS the deadly weapon in this case. They have been called to an incident of violence. They have drawn weapons on the suspect and ordered him to stop and hit the floor. He ignores them and is climbing into a deadly weapon. There does not need to be a gun. They rationally could not let him get behind the wheel.
