Even if Netflix marketed this all wrong and it's a misunderstood (rated NC-17 so the child actors aren't even supposed to see their own movie) coming-of-age film, it's about twerking 11-year-old girls. Criticizing something is not the same as calling for it to be censored or banned outright. I was disagreeing with others in this thread who have said there's no incentive for pedophiles to enjoy lolicon because real-life alternatives exist; that's similar to saying "What straight man would watch hentai when they could watch real porn?" My translations were to show that there's significant crossover between the "pedophile" and "lolicon" communities in Japan to the point where they are viewed as one and the same, especially so considering lolicon was an off-shoot of magazines and photobooks containing nude images of real life children.
One can acknowledge that something is detrimental to society and morally disgusting, while also recognizing that we currently do not have the legal or legislative finesse to tackle the issue, and that an all-out ban would cause more problems than it would solve.

I agree that Cuties is far worse, as real-life children must actively be harmed and exploited in order to create it, the same as pageantry, drag kids, pole dancing, gravure photoshoots, "artistic" nude photography, and of course full-on pornography.
