I think the most astounding thing about this situation is that it’s been 3 days and there’s no statements from the police or the mayor about what happened.
Only a vague deferment to other law enforcement agencies and a plz don’t doxx our officer statement put out by the police department.
That sort of silence only inflames the situation.
Then you have the issue that the police only have 200 officers and none of them wear body cameras because the chief opposed them in 2017 and only supported a resolution to buy them 3 years ago.

I lean towards pessimism naturally, but I've been seeing similar. I don't use FB or social media at all, but friends who do have noticed the same thing. Additionally, I've noticed from within my own social circle, over the last couple of weeks, my friends are expressing "wrongthink" to me. I would assume it's because they know I'll neither judge them or out them for doing so.
My main hope in all of this is that more people start to wake up to what is happening and see the manipulation for what it all it. Additionally, the comments sections on online news articles about the rapist who was shot are increasingly comdemnatory of him, praising the Police Officers and raining shit on the rioters and looters and those tearing apart communities and their infastructures.
Edited because nobody likes a Debbie Doubleposter: I do think one of the best things we can do, as individuals, is be there for people we know who are exploring their thoughts about all of this. And as hard as it may be, it's possible more important to be there for the people with whom we have maybe disagreed with in the past.
In my entirely anecdotal experience, you cannot force a person to change their opinions or beliefs. But once a person arrives at a different conclusion, that rejects the narrative we're force fed in schools and through social media/the press, those beliefs will become more deeply held than anything they were ever spoon fed.
And an important part of that is allowing people space and freedom - true freedom, without fear of judgement or being shouted down - to explore those thoughts and feelings for themselves. So personally? Whenever someone I know who has been an NPC the last few years gets in touch with me to talk about stuff, once I've ascertained their intentions are non-malicious and are genuine, I will happily let them talk to me, and listen to what they have to say.
We need to prove to these people that we're the ones occupying the moral high ground, and that we don't go cancelling, REEing or screeching like batshit insane harpies at people who are starting to reject the narrative.

I wouldn't say China is leading the riots. I think they are providing what support they can, ever since Trump became anti china after COVID. After all Trump was the first President to visit Chinas Hidden city. But when Trump discovered China was using the WHO to deceive him and the rest of the world, the gloves came off economically speaking, and China doesn't like that, so they will support the removal of Trump.

China is absolutely never going to soften on the US. They've been waging a 4th Gen War on us for decades. They attack our infrastructure, financial institutions, and use PLA front companies to pump meth and drugs like Fentanyl in the US. There had been some level of public relations detente with Trump, but you're delusional if you think the PLA's ultimate goal for the US is anything other than destabilization and de-legitimizing us as a superpower.
It may have very well been the same type of ploy as North Korea. Trump gets credit for bringing the Norks to the table, but a lot of people who study them for a living wondered if it had as much to do with them thinking they could pull one over on Trump because they thought he was desperate for a diplomatic win as much as it was with the hard stance Trump was taking towards them. The fact that actual negotiations went so poorly lends strength to that theory.
