I was up in the northeast and they've really shit their pants up there, continuing to shit ever harder despite all indications that shitting is even necessary dropping for some time.
- I sat outside a nearly empty grocery store for an hour waiting for someone to go through checkout, because they're forcing the employees to no-shit hose down the conveyor and surrounding areas with disinfectant (???) between customers. You can't even tell them not to, it is mandatory.
- By mandate people have to wear "masks" in the gym. The gym owner I know doesn't do this and there's no actual enforcement. Still, someone tried to snitch on him to the health board even though the inspector didn't care when he showed up. His lawyer said it's all bullshit and unenforceable anyway, you "may" deny service to someone without a mask (but don't have to) and if someone has a "medical condition" you're not allowed to ask what it is and have to serve them anyway.
- There were posted notices that you had to wear a mask at a popular hiking trail, which is painfully stupid. Even stupider was the dozen or so people I saw actually wearing them (fucking retards).
- In a different state I was hassled by a 7-11 clerk, who I promptly put on the spot with "You're not allowed to ask about muh medickul cundishuns", which threw her off but didn't shut her up so I finished with "If I can't wear a mask because of health conditions, it's a civil (law) issue and I wouldn't recommend denying me service". Dumb bitch wouldn't look at me afterwards when ringing up my meat stix and fructose orbs, that's right ho you got alpha'd. I'm gonna do this everywhere now if forced to, it's hilarious because my physique is on the 'olympic athlete' level so saying I'm too unhealthy to wear a mouth rag is preposterous on it's face... but so is insisting on me wearing a mouth rag.
- I did however get away with doing the same thing I've been doing back in the South, I just went into the coffee store or gas station or restaurant without anything on my face and unapologetically did my business. No one said anything to me, though I didn't go a lot of places. This girl I know complained about being turned away for not having a breath deflector, she should probably just take HGH and Test until she looks like me and it'll go better for her. The small, privately owned businesses I'm familiar with up there obviously weren't following THE RULES, and neither were the trade shops. Mostly it's the corporates covering their asses in this manner (and it is purely ass covering, that's what the gov'mt is doing with mandates too... forestalling potential coof-related lolsuits).
The situation still drives me nuts and makes me anxious, I was thinking on the drive how this whole thing is analogous to a big social infection, and obviously our society's immune system is no good - instead of reacting normally to a threat, it started shutting down and eating itself like some kind of sociological AIDS, and it's still wasting away instead of recovering. There are lots of variables that might make a society react this poorly to the threat of contagion or any other large scale threat, many things that have gotten worse in the past decades such as deteriorating social bonds, loss of community trust, consumerism, narcissism, detachment from reality (more specifically from death), and diversity, but there's one major factor here that I will refuse to forget or forgive: The fucking mass media.
If pervasive visual media didn't exist, or at least if it collectively shut the fuck up and went and did something productive, NONE of this would be happening. We would have had a weird late flu season, some anecdotal accounts of a nasty flu that was hitting the elderly hard and THAT'S IT. The Fake News is literally to blame for all of this shit, and they did it for the lowest most despicable reasons... money and ego. If you're still not sure that all journalists should hang, can you really pass a mirror test?
