Only reason I think a self-defense claim won't fly is because he was out there in the goatfuck. A prosecutor could argue that he could have avoided this, and that "protecting the neighborhood" could also constitute looking for trouble. He's pointing the gun in his face. No way this kid is convicted. Since he's been doxed Antifags are gearing up to harass his family.

See, now you know why civil war is bad. With all the dead rioters people use the chaos to settle scores the old fashioned way. Or get their serial killer/rapist/torture groove on, it's just another corpse.
Personally, I absolutely think he was right to go out and protect the community when the cops and NG wouldn't. But the judicial system will still want your ass on a platter, even if you're on the side of the angels.
Also, be sure the gun you're gonna call on to save your life is one you're okay with kissing goodbye in the aftermath. I've been trying to abstain from more gun buying this year because I'm already strapped and don't wanna be greedy, but my AR is my metaphorical baby, so I'm now considering getting myself a shottie. You're armed. Mr. Riot Gun is sufficient, more than sufficient, for anything that's reasonably self defense. At close range it's better than a rifle and at long range it ain't self defense. In an urban situation, BB or #6 buckshot are best, so you don't shoot through your neighbors' exterior walls. And contrary to popular opinion, shotguns need to be aimed and aimed carefully.
