Officer-involved shooting under investigation in Kenosha

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58 ) -- An officer-involved shooting investigation is underway in Kenosha on Sunday, Aug. 23.

The shooting happened near 28th Avenue and 40th Street around 5:11 p.m., after officers were called for a "domestic incident."

According to police, officers provided immediate aid to the person. They were transported via Flight for Life to Froedtert in Milwaukee for treatment. The person is in serious condition.

A large crowd gathered near the scene following the shooting.

Kenosha Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol were requested immediately so that the scene could be turned over to an agency other than Kenosha police.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) will handle the investigation.

Mr shot arm (if he lives) is going be asked for the rest of his life why did he lose his arm?
He will have to think over and explain what he did to lose his arm and have to constantly be reminded of his dumb ass act.

I love the fact that it's captured on video; everyone can literally see the blood & bone dust being blasted point-blank from his arm.

And being he actually did have a gun, was fully deserving of rounds in the back as he stumbled away.

Kenosha Police said early Wednesday morning that two people had been shot and killed and a third injured during protests over the shooting of Jacob Blake; authorities were looking for a man armed with a long gun.

Earlier Wednesday, Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that one victim had been shot in the head and another in the chest late Tuesday, just before midnight. Beth didn’t know where the other person was shot, but video posted on social media showed someone had been shot in the arm.

The incident occurred at about 11:45 p.m. in the area of 63rd Street and Sheridan Road, Kenosha police said.

The release from the Kenosha Police Department said the injuries to the third individual were not life threatening. The release said the names, ages and cities of residence for the victims were still being determined.

Officials asked that anyone who witnessed the shootings contact the Kenosha Police Department Detective Bureau at 262-605-5203. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can contact Kenosha Area Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333.

No one has been apprehended, but Beth said he believed at least one person would be taken into custody soon based on video footage police have reviewed.

“I feel very confident we’ll have him in a very short time,” Beth said.

The shooting came on the third night of violent protests that have torn through Kenosha after a police officer shot Blake from behind at close range while he was getting in a vehicle. Since then, buildings have been burned, windows smashed out and stores looted.

The investigation of the latest shooting is being conducted by the Kenosha Police Department with the assistance of the FBI, Beth said.

“We’ve got a lot of resources that are helping us pull this stuff together,” Beth said of the shooting investigation.

About 250 law enforcement officers and 250 National Guard members were on hand Tuesday night to quell the recent unrest, he said.

The incident happened on Sheridan Road in the heart of Kenosha near the Froedert South hospital building. Many people were still on the streets in protest just before the shooting, walking up and down Sheridan Road, where protesters had been driven after being expelled from Civic Center Park.

The sounds of gunshots sent people running and looking for places to hide, including behind bushes along the hospital fence line.

Social media footage appears to show at least three people were shot.

One of the victims walked into the hospital after he or she was injured, Beth said. Another was picked up by law enforcement.

A widely shared video shows a man sprinting into the parking lot of Bert and Rudy's Auto Service at 63th Street and Sheridan Road, carrying a long gun. Someone pursuing him appears to throw something toward him. Multiple gunshots are heard.

Another video, posted to Twitter by Shelby Talcott of the Daily Caller, shows a gunshot victim lying in the parking lot. The victim appears to be the man who had been pursuing the gunman. The victim appeared to have been shot in the head, and bystanders were applying pressure to the wound.

In a later video posted by Talcott, bystanders were carrying the victim across Sheridan Road toward the hospital.

Other videos show a man wielding a long gun running north on Sheridan Road, pursued by others, before he falls to the ground and fires the gun at people who seem to be trying to disarm him. While on the ground, it appears the gunman shot two of them.

The victim who was shot in the arm ran away from the shooter, bleeding heavily and screaming repeatedly that he needed a medic. More gunshots followed. A bystander who was live-streaming helped the victim with tying a tourniquet around his arm.

The gunman is then seen headingnorth toward several police tactical vehicles, his arms raised, according to video footage. The tactical vehicles drive by him.

It was unclear if there was more than one shooter. Beth said he did not know.

Beth said people who fashion themselves as belonging to a militia have been patrolling Kenosha's streets in recent nights, but he did not know if the shooter was involved with such a group.

“They’re a militia," Beth said. "They’re like a vigilante group.”

A Journal Sentinel reporter earlier in the evening observed a group of armed men with long guns standing guard at a dry cleaning business on Sheridan Road near 59th Street, some on the roof.

Police told them to get off the roof and a person shouted back: "Officer, this is our business." Police did not ultimately order them off the roof.

Before the shooting, someone from Kenosha suggested to Beth that he deputize ordinary citizens to help contain the unrest. Beth said he refused.

“I said, ‘There’s no way I’m doing that,’” Beth said.

The reports start on this page of the riot thread.

Here's one of the shootings, I'm too lazy to grab the others, they're in the riot thread though.

Don’t you love how they immediately scream “it’s a Militia! It’s the Boogaloo Boys”. No you fucking moron. Kenosha is a Lily white old school Midwest town. The people are immensely self reliant. And are well armed. They’ve watched three nights of their neighbors being brutalized their lives destroyed, their communities burned. Their Law enforcement, while not abandoning them like other cities, is clearly overwhelmed. They are fighting back.

Is that why the guy who shot the people came from Illinois?

Has he made a statement, or is this mere conjecture?
He came with an AR15 and gloves to prevent fingerprints. Why else would he come? He has apparently made Facebook posts saying he was going to shoot people, too. I get it, he shot black people and you guys like him for it, but come on now

I fail to see a problem with taking out violent insurgents when the government won't do anything. Or are you still pretending these are peaceful protesters holding hands and singing kumbaya?

Yeah going there with guns and shooting people is totally okay. He should be in jail. He's not law enforcement. He's not even out of high school. He went 3 hours out of his way to do that. That's premeditated.

instead of replying to perpetually mad mask karens, have a laugh instead.

What do you expect the residents of Kenosha to do? These bused-in anarchist faggots are burning down their community and destroying lives with the support of their governor while the police and National Guard stand by doing nothing. If the police can't or won't protect them and their lives/livelihoods are on the line, it's perfectly reasonable of them to form a militia.

And if outsiders want to aid the militia, so what? The people destroying Kenosha aren't local either. It doesn't matter.

So this thread is already a clusterfuck and I'm not going to sit through our resident madposter seething for more pages than I already have.

Someone tell me, was it deserved? The guy have a gun or what? He dead yet?

Edit: I miss that Ashy The Angel dude more and more every time I go into A&N

Not like law enforcement were doing anything to stop all the rioting.

In the end, this is another case of rioters playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes while also possibly being cake.

Was it deserved? He ran for a van with three kids in it, presumably for a gun. He's not dead, just paralyzed.

I'm becoming more racist by the day, tbh. Maybe attempt to act like you're a few degrees separated from chimps and that the people in the 18th century justifying slavery with diagrams "proving" blacks are subhuman were wrong by not turning into fucking apes?

Racist against who? White people? Because that's who attacked that kid, and probably who's going to sentence the kid to life in the slammer too.

You realize the survivor is just going to make a gofundme and become a millionaire right. Might even be worth it for the price of his arm.
