I recall hearing that the 5.56 round was designed specifically to be able to penetrate a steel helmet at 400 yards.

It isn't about fragmentation, it's about hydrostatic shock. Water doesn't compress, so an object at high velocity sends a shockwave through any water-filled thing it hits, doing tremendous damage. This is as opposed to something like a .45, which brings a great big hole along with it.

Unlike Fields, I'm not seeing much in the way of WHITE SUPREMACIST PROPAGANDA!!!1 being dug up in Kyle's social media history, and I'm sure it's not for a lack of trying.

There's also a lot more video footage than just a car slamming into retards like Fields had.

I think Kyle might be in a slightly better position, esp if he can get a good lawyer and a gofundme going.

It's still rather hard to sympathize with armed idiots who show up to large mass acts of idiocy.

Close. Both sides of a GI steel helmet at 500 yards, according to the big story on its adoption in the 1963 Gun Digest. (Or possibly Shooter's Bible, can't be certain which.)

They may not have come across all the footage yet, and they certainly don't yet have his side of the story (though now that they charged, if he's smart and lawyered up they'll get just enough from the lawyer to try and get charges dismissed, otherwise nothing till trial).

It could be political - charge him now and drop later once the investigation actually happens and police back up his claims - in order to try and quell further riots.

Or it could be a "progressive" D.A. and they're just going to make his life miserable even though they know he'll be acquitted.

Only way a murder charge, let alone 1st would stick, is if they found some type of secret video of him saying he was planning to off people. But that's unlikely, especially since he was trying to flee the confrontation.

This would degenerate into low level street clashes where militants try using protestors as human shields. Marshall Law will be declared, and we have the tools to pick people out of crowds who are carrying guns. Suspension of Constitutional rights would come before anyone is allowed to organize terrorist attacks at that level.

If anti-government groups try to form en masse, they have some serious logistical challenges. If they form up in cities, cities rely on infrastructure. It's not hard to close the roads, shut down utilities, demolish food distribution centers. If they form up rurally, they can't really do much in the country besides attack infrastructure leading to the cities. It's not hard for the government to bring out heavy weapons to clean them out, small arms are no match for mortars, helicopters and APCs.

This has been an information war to this point, which is why it seems so static. Once it becomes kinetic, people's outlook changes dramatically. They just want to get back to normal and whoever is seen as legitimate will get support from the people. After that, the winner gets to declare the prevailing ideology, institutions that don't support it are cancelled, and people fall in line.

While I understand the risk of predicting a short engagement, it's very difficult to see how this would go on for long given the current amount of information that exists on every American. It's theoretically possible to do a search for every Communist and get a fairly accurate list. That's a tool that's never been brought to bear in an insurgency before, I'm curious about how it would work.

Isn't it weird how there are so many shots in the streets in these videos and barely anyone even flinches, ducks, or tries to get away? Are people so used to bullets flying there, or are these people just so sheltered that they just don't understand "danger" anymore? Given that some guys tried to melee a guy with a rifle, I'm inclined to think it's the latter. Sucks when it's not the others dying for your revolution anymore, innit?

Oh, it was the Shoot Me Nigga guy? Interesting. So presuming there was 3 shootings (I heard 4?) that means:
  1. Shoot Me Nigga - Dead, possibly from Antifa "medics" helping
  2. Sk8ter boy (Anthony Huber) - Dead, instantly, from taking a 5.56 shot to the chest
  3. The One Armed Jackass - Probably going to lose the arm and sue everyone (and win).
2.5 kills in like 15 minutes. Nice!

Any rifle can penetrate steel helmets, it's just 18 gauge sheet steel whose purpose was to protect you from shrapnel not necessarily bullets.

All the big .30 caliber rounds could do that, 30-06, German 8mm, 7.62x54R
