Officer-involved shooting under investigation in Kenosha

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58 ) -- An officer-involved shooting investigation is underway in Kenosha on Sunday, Aug. 23.

The shooting happened near 28th Avenue and 40th Street around 5:11 p.m., after officers were called for a "domestic incident."

According to police, officers provided immediate aid to the person. They were transported via Flight for Life to Froedtert in Milwaukee for treatment. The person is in serious condition.

A large crowd gathered near the scene following the shooting.

Kenosha Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol were requested immediately so that the scene could be turned over to an agency other than Kenosha police.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) will handle the investigation.

"Blake appears to have told officers that he had a knife in his possession, the DCI said. Investigators later "recovered a knife from the driver's side floorboard" of Blake's vehicle and no other weapons were found, the agency said."

So in other words he was literally reaching for a weapon when they shot him. The shooting was justified even if they fucked up by even letting him get there, but it was his own fault he took the opportunity to reach for a weapon instead of obeying the law. Why does a city have to burn down for yet another worthless, criminal piece of shit?

Because worthless criminal pieces of shit are the best role models the ghetto black community have to offer.

Yes, you can. For instance, if the initial aggressor in a situation withdraws and is then pursued by other aggressors, self-defense will be justified so long as it is proportional. Or, as I mentioned before, brandishing (which is unlawful) may be excusable as an act of self defense. But this is besides the point--the kid here neither initiated the conflict or acted unlawfully.

Didn't he also shoot the first guy in the head? I'm unclear as to how that happened or if he even did that. Also "brandishing" is a legal term for the illegal form of displaying a weapon, but "brandishing" in the normal English language sense of the word can refer to entirely legal behavior. It's really a fact question for the jury what his actions caused, and whether he can defend himself under those circumstances. I think it's pretty obvious they were trying to murder him at the time he shot the skateboard punk swinging at him and the arm guy pulling a gun on him, and the guy who was first kicking at him on the ground when he tripped, whom he missed.

What a jury will think is another thing.

Self-defense is entirely valid against an unprovoked attack. If the person defending themselves actually initiated the encounter, though, it can do anything from entirely invalidate the defense to reducing it to a mitigation defense.

Well, that's the thing in basically all of these cases. It's not a matter of whether the cops were perfect in their function; no one ever is. The question is whether cops are going out there to purposely kill niggers for fun. It's just obviously not the case. It seems to be the case that these incidents are selected to specifically allow bad behavior on the part of blacks. As much as I have no love for cops, it's not hard to not get shot by them in general. There was that one super-ridiculous case (which was a white guy fwiw) where the cop in question just obviously had a boner for shooting the suspect, but that's not at all what we see in any of these alleged cases of "white supremacist cops" shooting blacks. You can question it, sure, but if you put yourself in the position of these cops, it's hard to claim you'd have done better.

All of that said, there's no policy whatsoever that can 100% prevent bad behavior from cops. In a nation of more than 300M people, there will be occasional cases where cops obviously do wrong. Just claiming it's systemic is worthless; that claim needs to be supported, and none of these cases come close to doing so.

Considering the sheer numbers of those crimes a lot of them go unsolved with no justice served. It doesn't help that the nogs aren't willling to testify against each other most of the time. Even high profile murders like Tupac and Biggie Smalls have gone unsolved. These would vastly outnumber the innocent nogs shot by the police.

But talking about that is waysis.

Kenosha police chief says protesters wouldn't have been shot by armed teen if they weren't illegally out past curfew

Two protesters are dead and one is injured after a 17-year-old white man from Illinois brought an AR-15 rifle to the unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Kyle Rittenhouse was arrested in Illinois Wednesday on a first-degree murder charge after video taken in Kenosha showed him leave the area with his gun, The New York Times and USA Today first reported.

At a Wednesday press conference, Kenosha city and police officials didn't name Rittenhouse or the victims. Instead, they blamed everyone who was out passed the 8 p.m. curfew for the violence.

"Last night, in a situation that began peaceful and turned somewhat unruly ... persons who were out after the curfew became engaged in some type of disturbance and persons were shot," Police Chief Daniel Miskinis said. "Had persons not been out involved in violation of that, perhaps the situation that unfolded would not have happened."

The small city of Kenosha has been in chaos since the police killing of Jacob Blake on Sunday.

Organized protests, and unorganized riots, have taken over the city at night, with people burning cars, businesses, and other property.

Rittenhouse is under the legal age to openly carry firearms, but joined the small groups of armed civilians who took it upon themselves to defend the town's businesses.

In one graphic video from the scene, Rittenhouse is shown running through a crowd of people in a street. One person appears to yell "That guy shot someone." He trips and falls and, as several people move close to him, he's seen opening fire.

Directly following the shooting, a group of police vehicles advances on the crowd. Rittenhouse walks toward them and can be seen alternately putting his hands up and touching his gun. As he approaches, the vehicles drive away and Rittenhouse gives them a slight wave.

A 26-year-old Silver Lake resident and 36-year-old Kenosha resident were killed in the shootings. A 26-year-old West Alice resident was injured, Miskinis said at the press conference.

Rittenhouse aspired to be a police officer
Web sleuths tracked down Rittenhouse using videos from the scene and social media hours before he was announced as a suspect in the shooting.

Rittenhouse had idolized police and had participated in programs aimed toward youth who aspire to work in law enforcement.

Miskinis stopped short of criticizing the teen who crossed state lines and fired the gun. He said he didn't have details on the shooting, or the shooter's motive, to release.

"A 17-year-old from Antioch, Il., was involved in the use of firearms to resolve whatever conflict that was in place," he said. "What I can't tell you is what led to the disturbance, what led to the use of deadly force by this person, and if both deaths are related to the same person."

Kenosha County Sheriff Dan Beth said Wednesday that the violence that carried out was an example of why he doesn't want to encourage civilians to take up arms on behalf of law enforcement.

"Yesterday I have a person call me and say, 'why don't you deputize citizens who have guns to come out and patrol the city of Kenosha,' Beth said. "And I'm like 'oh hell no."

"What happen last night .. was probably the person reason why I wouldn't," he added. "That would have been one deputy sheriff who killed two people and the liability that goes with that would have been immense."

Armed civilians aren't helping keep the city safe, officials say
While they might not have been working for the city, videos taken at the protests Tuesday show law enforcement thanking the armed civilians for being on city streets. In one video, they offer Rittenhouse water.

Reporters pressed city officials to say whether or not they want these civilians in the city working on their behalf.

"I don't want violence regardless of which side of any issue you're on, so showing up with firearms doesn't do us any good," Miskinis said. "It's no different than those on the protester's side who are walking around armed, or those who are counter-protesters, or those who are just witnessing."

Mayor John Antaramian made a similar comment.

"No, I don't need more guns on the street in the community when we are trying to make sure that we keep people safe," he said. "Law enforcement is trained. They're the ones who are responsible. They're the ones we have faith in that they'll do their jobs."

How convenient:

He trips and falls and, as several people move close to him, he's seen opening fire.

Zero mention of the guy trying to stomp him or the skater hitting him in the neck/shoulder area.

Police and law enforcement have not been doing the duty to protect that we have outsourced to them. That duty is our own first and foremost. We outsource it to a bureaucracy only as a means of ensuring accountability and justice. When that bureacracy instead prevents justice rather than starting it, the responsibility reverts back to ourselves. He joined a militia to defend his civilization from burning down.

“And where the body of the people, or any single man, is deprived of their right, or is under the exercise of a power without right, and have no appeal on earth, then they have a liberty to appeal to heaven, whenever they judge the cause of sufficient moment." -John Locke

Honestly, the USA outsourced most of our responsibility from protection, workers, hell the shit we buy. I mean how many of the stuff all you guys own have Made in China on it.

So its a shock to the system that a 17-year-old have a weapon much less use it I mean more often than, not the only gun he would be using would be the next COD game.

Didn't he also shoot the first guy in the head? I'm unclear as to how that happened or if he even did that.

Yeah, here's what happened leading up that:

Vids have been posted earlier in this thread or the other one that shows a bit earlier, but the gist is thrower (bandanna guy, now dead) was provoking, then threw a molotov cocktail and rushed him. The kid ran around the vehicle on the left, ran into a dead in (boxed in by cars), thrower chased him and was shot.

If the person initiated and didn't terminate their participation, yeah. If the person initiated, withdrew, and was the involuntarily re-engaged, then they are entitled to self-defense. That's why I say there's zero likelihood he gets convicted for the later shootings. The only potential conviction he's looking at is for the car lot shooting; but even there, the events heavily weigh in his favor. I agree everything's possible with a jury, but a jury in a criminal trial still has to come back unanimous on the charges and lol at the prospect of that happening.
