This may be TMI but I used to live in the North East US and I've actually helped rescue opossum babies after their mom died. They looked liked giant rats and sounded like monsters from Silent Hill. They were also very pleasant once you earned their trust. In other words, the first part fits Tommy perfectly. The second part, not so much.
