Why does it feel like a leftist wrote this?
Pro-Second Amendment and Christian crowdfunding groups have started initiatives to raise funds for Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old accused of fatally shooting two men Tuesday night in Kenosha, Wis.
Rittenhouse has been charged as an adult with two counts of first-degree homicide and one count of attempted homicide, for incidents that occurred during protests sparked by the police shooting of a Black man, Jacob Blake, on Aug. 23.
A campaign hosted on GiveSendGo, a crowdfunding website that identifies as a source “by Christians for Christians,” had raised more than $187,000 to assist with his legal fees as of Saturday evening.
“Kyle Rittenhouse just defended himself from a brutal attack by multiple members of the far-leftist group ANTIFA – the experience was undoubtedly a brutal one, as he was forced to take two lives to defend his own,” the site said.
Rittenhouse is from Antioch, Ill., about 20 miles from Kenosha. There is no evidence Antifa was involved in the shootings.
An autopsy found that the first victim Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, was shot five times in the right groin, back, left hand, left thigh and right side of his forehead, according to the criminal complaint.
Anthony Huber, 29, died after being shot in the chest. The wound perforated his heart, aorta, pulmonary artery and right lung, according to the complaint.
A third victim, Gaige Grosskreutz, was wounded in one of his arms.
Rittenhouse's attorneys released a statement Friday claiming the shootings were acts of self-defense.
College Republicans at Arizona State University announced Thursday a fundraising initiative for Rittenhouse.
"Half of all funds collected this semester for Republicans United will be donated to 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse legal defense fund," the group wrote in a tweet. "He does not deserve to have his entire life destroyed because of the actions of violent anarchists during a lawless riot."
The criminal complaint does not say that Grosskreutz was armed, as the post suggests.
A pro-Second Amendment advocacy group, the National Association for Gun Rights, announced its fundraising initiative the day Rittenhouse was charged.
The group described Rittenhouse as a peaceful protester, lawfully armed, who was chased by “an angry mob of rioters, and tackled to the ground."
"We fully support law-abiding citizens and their right to defend themselves from violent Antifa thugs," Dudley Brown, the group's executive director, said in a statement.
"Kyle was doing his best to protect business owners from losing their entire livelihoods when criminal actors instigated violence against him,” Brown said. “Unfortunately for them, Kyle was armed with an AR-15 and their rocks, skateboards, and handguns stood no chance against his well-placed shots."
Fox News could not confirm that the victims allegedly shot by Rittenhouse were affiliated with Antifa.
Several conservative groups have deemed Rittenhouse a “hero” exercising his Second Amendment right to bear a weapon.
Rittenhouse also was charged with a misdemeanor count for possession of a dangerous weapon under the age of 18.

Facebook Inc (FB.O) made an “operational mistake” in not acting sooner to remove a page for a militia group that posted a call to arms in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the company’s Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said on Friday.
The social media company said on Wednesday it had removed the page for the Kenosha Guard, and an event listing there for Armed Citizens to Protect Our Lives and Property as it violated the company’s policy against “militia organizations”.
Facebook’s action came after two people were shot and killed during protests in the town on Tuesday night, part of three nights of civil unrest that followed the shooting by a white police officer that left a Black man, Jacob Blake Jr, paralyzed.
Zuckerberg, speaking in a video message published on his Facebook profile, acknowledged the company had received complaints from “a bunch of people” about the Kenosha Guard posting.
“The contractors and reviewers who the initial complaints were funneled to basically didn’t pick this up,” he said. “And on second review, doing it more sensitively, the team that’s responsible for dangerous organizations recognized that this violated the policies and we took it down.”
Zuckerberg said the company had not found any evidence to show that the person charged with the fatal shooting during Tuesday’s unrest followed the Kenosha Guard page.
News website BuzzFeed quoted an internal Facebook report as showing the event associated with the Kenosha Guard was flagged at least 455 times, and a Facebook worker as saying it accounted for 66% of all event reports that day.
Facebook declined to comment on those findings, Buzzfeed said.
Facebook said it would continue to evolve its policies for identifying potentially dangerous organizations.
“This is a new policy we launched last week and we’re still scaling up our enforcement of it by a team of specialists,” a spokesperson said.

Jacob Blake's anguished mother, Julia Jackson, called for calm in Kenosha and apologized to President Trump for a family "outburst."

Jacob Blake’s anguished mother, Julia Jackson, called for calm in Kenosha and apologized to President Trump for a family “outburst” and for missing his phone call.
Jackson appeared on CNNLOL late Tuesday night and asked for calm in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the small city where her son was shot in the back seven times by a local police officer. Not enough facts are yet known to judge whether the shooting was legitimate or not. Blake is expected to survive but might be paralyzed from the waist down.
“Please, don’t burn up property and cause havoc, and tear your homes down, in my son’s name,” she said.
She also apologized to the president who apparently tried to call her.
“And then also, for President Trump, I’m sorry I missed your call,” Jackson said. “Because, had I not missed your call, maybe the comments you had made would have been different. I’m not mad at you at all. I have the utmost respect for you as the leader of our country.”
Jackson added that a family member who is “hurting” said something “not kind” about Trump. “I do apologize for that outburst,” she said. “That does not reflect our behavior.”

President Trump on Wednesday said he will send federal law enforcement and the National Guard to Kenosha, Wis. to restore “law and order” amid days of unrest in the city.

President Trump on Wednesday said he will send federal law enforcement and the National Guard to Kenosha, Wis. to restore “law and order” amid days of unrest in the city.
“We will NOT stand for looting, arson, violence, and lawlessness on American streets,” the president tweeted Wednesday. “My team just got off the phone with Governor Evers who agreed to accept federal assistance. (Portland should do the same!)”
The president added: “TODAY, I will be sending federal law enforcement and the National Guard to Kenosha, WI to restore LAW and ORDER!”
The president’s tweets come after 29-year-old Jacob Blake, a Black man, was shot at close range in the back by city police officers, leaving him partially paralyzed.
New footage emerged Tuesday of the moments before Blake was shot multiple times by a White Wisconsin police officer as Blake tried to get into his vehicle. The video reportedly captured Blake engaged in a struggle with at least two Kenosha police officers, and shows an officer appearing to try to restrain him before he manages to get up and walks to the driver’s side door, the clip shows.
Viral video taken from another vantage point shows an officer pump several rounds into the apparently unarmed man’s back.
Trump campaign communications manager Tim Murtaugh during call Wednesday called Blake’s shooting “very troubling.”
“It is apparent to anyone who’s seen video tape of the shooting ... that it is a very troubling and disturbing situation,” Murtaugh said, adding that what plays out on the video tape is a “horrific scene.”
“The president was briefed a number of times about that,” he continued, adding that the president is “in contact with local authorities.”
He added: “It’s a very serious situation.”
Meanwhile, videos on social media showed a chaotic scene after nightfall Tuesday, as crowds seemed to chase a man carrying a rifle down the street, before eventually knocking him to the ground and trying to grab his weapon, Reuters reported. A bloodied man was seen with what appeared to be a serious arm wound. Another video showed a man with a head injury as crowds gathered around him to treat him.
Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, a Democrat, had called for calm earlier Tuesday, while also declaring a state of emergency under which he doubled the National Guard deployment in Kenosha from 125 to 250. The night before, crowds destroyed dozens of buildings and set more than 30 fires in the city’s downtown.
The White House said Tuesday that Evers had rejected an offer for additional federal support.
Murtaugh, during the call with reporters Thursday, said that “everyone supports the First Amendment” and the “right of people to assemble.”
“Everyone celebrates that, including the president,” Murtaugh said, noting that it is what the “foundation” of the country is built on. “Where the president draws the line is where peaceful protesters crossed the line with outside groups like Antifa, and erupts in violence.” He added: “It doesn’t serve anyone’s purpose to cause mayhem so I think that’s a great concern.”
Jackson did not elaborate on what comments Trump made about her son. There is no record of the president making any comments about Blake. Because CNNLOL is a fake news network, she was not asked to expand on the remark.
It’s also bizarre that Jackson, whose call for calm is undoubtedly sincere, would choose to call for calm on one of the fake news networks that is most responsible for legitimizing left-wing rioting and looting. Under chief Jeff Zucker, CNN has spent most of a decade attempting to normalize, defend, and even make heroic the very domestic left-wing terrorists who are right now burning Kenosha to the ground.
In fact, CNNLOL’s Don Lemon, the left-wing activist interviewing Jackson, is an Antifa defender.
Possibly, like 99 percent of America, Ms. Jackson does not watch CNNLOL.
Jackson went on to say that she is praying for her son, praying for the country to heal, and even praying for police officers.
“Citizens, police officers, firemen, clergy, politicians: do Jacob justice on this level and examine your hearts,” she said. “We need healing. As I pray for my son’s healing, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, I also have been praying, even before this, for the healing of our country.”
The shocking violence in Kenosha — yet another Democrat-run city among dozens that have chosen not to protect their citizens over the past three months — escalated Wednesday night. People were killed. There are reports that more than half of Downtown Kenosha has been destroyed at the hands of left-wing terrorists.
Because Wisconsin’s Democrat Governor, Tony Evers, refused to send more than ten to twenty percent of the necessary National Guardsmen, armed citizen militias were forced to step in. Things escalated. We don’t know all the facts yet, but we know people died.
When the government refuses to protect its citizens — and Evers and his fellow Democrats throughout the country are doing exactly that, refusing to protect their own citizens from organized, left-wing marauders — vigilantes and militia are going to step in. Therefore…
What is happening in Kenosha is no one’s fault but the Democrat Governor Tony Evers’. He had the power to flood Kenosha with the number of Guardsmen necessary to protect his citizens; he CHOSE not to.
Instead, Evers is encouraging the terrorists to loot and burn with tweets like these.
My heart goes out to Ms. Jackson, and all the victims of these Democrat-run cities and states.
