Every time that someone tries to tell me that NPR is a good use of our tax dollars and presents fair and unbiased arguments, I want to shove them into a gym locker and take their lunch money. This is possibly one of the stupidest articles I'll read this year. If the DNC's platform has seriously started to pivot towards "fuck small business owners" then I don't even know what could be done to save the party. That's electoral suicide in possibly one of its purest forms.

To be fair, Hillary Clinton was First Lady for one of the most prolific presidents still alive today, a Secretary of State, and a major presidential candidate. Unless the Flynn stuff goes deeper than we thought and the FBI can fully uncuck itself, Hillary's practically teflon at this point.

Whatever they do, it had better be big. The NLG has deep pockets, a lot of resources, and friends in high places.
Cast so large of a net that they only have the ability to protect the biggest fish. Then you can pick off the local and regional guys. Not just the foot soldiers.
The feds are the only ones with the resources to wage lawfare like that and they still would come up short of taking down the heavyweights. But, eh, you take your victories where you can.

She's not wrong that with the ramping up of violence in Portland, alongside the city's complete snot nosed rejection of federal assistance, Trump could probably pull off using the Insurrection Act in Oregon, and largely get away with it at this point. Also its cute she's so concerned about tear gas when its going to be live ammo if Trump does send in the feds.

If I were him I wouldn't send in the riot cops or NG. I'd send in the unmarked vans.
We saw a bit of this earlier when things got spicy at the Federal Courthouse. There are still a bunch of people on those lists from the investigation that haven't been nabbed. A big sweep rounding up the instigators and handlers and this stops right now. Unfortunately, pulling off that kind of operation without tipping your hand so that they all flee to safe locations is pretty tricky and takes time. International travel restrictions because of Covid could help here. But I imagine some places like Canada are tripping over their Little Red Books to open the door and let these poor political dissident refugees in.

No NG unit will ever fire on Americans unless there is consistent fire from them and it would be an incident by incident situation like the police. NG are literally people from the community, they're entirely unsuited for supressing revolts because they're effectively the same people that are revolting. The NG is more or less a government organized militia that is used to hand out food, water, and clear roads during natural disasters and I think everyone involved wants it to remain that way, the NG has a good reputation built up since the Kent State incident and nobody wants to squander it clubbing the head of retarded soy boys in Portland. Anyone that has experience with people in the military know that a real civil war or usage of live ammo on citizens would induce a minimum of 50% desertion from all branches and likely the Navy would suffer mutinies while sailing abroad. The fear of a military junta or some massive action by the military in the US has always been overblown, every citizen, including those who absolutely hate the US government has a firm expectation that term limits and elections will be observed and would never tolerate a dictator. Even during the actual civil war the states just removed themselves from the US Federal government control and duplicated it with almost no modifications to how the state operated.
