The thing I can't understand is why? Why would they do this? I mean I'm not gonna argue how much sway the DNC has over BLM, but they had the power to put a lid on the riots within the first week or so. Why commit to it and hope Trump overreacted? They knew the consequences, and genuinely, nothing else could be as damaging for the Democratic brand as college grads and ghetto thugs destroying their own communities. Before Minneapolis, what could have possibly derailed the Biden-Harris ticket on this scale? Both have to answer this crisis in 2 or 3 completely contradictory ways simultaneously in order to keep the Democratic Coalition afloat, and neither of them have the confidence (nor stamina) to do Trump-style running commentary on developments for hours at a time every single day.

When they finally do leave the inner cities, what do they expect? These riots are reaching Day 100, and have absolutely 0 reason to exist since most municipalities immediately capitulate to mob demands before even Night 1 of protests begin. What business does Atlanta or Seattle have rioting over some crippled wife-beater in Wisconsin? The only point of these night time adventures is to get useful idiots on the streets, while real criminals get physical and rhetorical cover for their destruction.

There is no way they drop him from the ticket at this point. The filing deadline for most states has passed, ballot access is now locked, and in the event of Joe's death they'll embrace it being the Kamala ticket, and brainstorming on who she would announce as VP post-victory would distract the media for the rest of the election cycle.

Trump's certainly not gonna be the first since Washington to get a country-wide landslide, but if it happens, it will be glorious. Probably no Mondale or McGovern, but at most Reagan's results against Carter or akin to Eisenhower.

To be completely frank, the riots were the worst thing to ever happen if you want complacent Republicans. People are being murdered on the street for just being in the way of communists and anarchists, let alone if you're also foolish enough to openly support Trump.

Trying to create an illusion of hopelessness only works if you are looking at one side of things. What the Democrats have done by endorsing (or not immediately condemning) people who want America to burn is going to make Republicans turn out and vote like their lives depended on it - which many of them genuinely believe is the case, and not without good reason. All thanks to these last couple months. To many people, Democratic silence is violence.

My reasoning: Trump voters, even if they think Trump will win, have more to prove than Biden voters. A Trump landslide, even if unlikely, is the best outcome for his supporters. People voting Biden just need to get Trump out of office; however narrow that margin of victory may be. Biden is running on a platform of "not Trump", and therefore his supporters gain nothing additional from an above-and-beyond victory on behalf of Biden that they wouldn't be getting from a by-the-skin-of-his-teeth victory.

Its the difference between the college students fighting for that 3.5 GPA to keep their scholarship, and the students just aiming for that 2.5 GPA to graduate.

The youth vote going to Trump because all the liberal youth are buttmad about Bernie cucking while the fence-sitters and right-leaning youth are fired up after Kavanaugh and Kenosha

You're assuming that normies are able to connect the dots between Democrats and rioting. Most of the time they don't, then when the riots eventually hurt them they have absolutely no idea how this could have happened.

You also can't forget about the "Return to Normalcy" promise. I've taken an American Exceptionalism approach lately, and it's fascinating; remembering that quote just made something click: Biden is a modern day Warren G. Harding, which is terrifying given both of their track records. God only knows if his cabinet would be just as corrupt as Harding's. And we all know Biden will be outsed from presidency should it happen, like Harding with his death. If that's the case, Kamala will never in this lifetime be as great as Calvin Coolidge.
