US Joe Biden News Megathread - The Other Biden Derangement Syndrome Thread (with a side order of Fauci Derangement Syndrome)

Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Then they are not practicing the doctrine. They do all this woke shit to attract more young people into the cause. What they fail to realise is that the number of people who practice the religion should not matter, especially if you compromise your religion and the face of your faith in order to do it. I don't see any other religion doing this. Do Muslims go "we are going to make Muhammed gay to attract the young"? Do buddhists go "gee, we need to replace Buddha's face with a black man to be progressive and attract young people"? No, none of them do this. Only the Christians are stupid enough to do so.

They also do these sing-song rockband churches, which I have attended and can't take seriously at all. You have some fucking band there playing songs that I have never heard before, before some guy who can't even be bothered to dress properly comes up and tells us his life story, before doing more rock band singing. What is this, religious worship or an amateur rock band concert? They will do everything to try and attract the young, and it's kinda sad to watch.
Not gonna lie those dull CCM songs they play are boring as fuck.

It's not only boring, but IDK what they even are. You go to a Catholic church, and you sing the following songs - Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus and Agnus Dei (look, it's the cast of Devil May Cry 4) - those are the most common songs. You can walk into any Catholic church in the world, and barring the language issue, you more or less know what to sing. They are chorus prayer songs as well.

In these sing song churches with bands, IDK what the fuck they sing, but it changes depending on where you are it seems. Maybe in my mind religious praise should be ritualistic, almost meditative, instead of watching a band perform songs you never heard of with the expectation to lock arms and sway.

You know that video of Biden saying "Yes, Absolutely" when asked by the guy with ALS if they should defund the police?

They're trying to fact check it into oblivion, claiming it's a hoax.

Here's the context:

There's a whole industry comprised of bland, forgettable, and frankly cringe Christian music out there. A decent amount of alternative (Creed, anyone?) and country music artists get their start this way, and there was a period when some metal and emo (Taking Back Sunday, get it?) groups came out of it as well. Those are the breakouts with some originality (maybe not Creed) and crossover appeal.

What's left in that scene are the "musicians" who you've never heard of unless you attended a megachurch or some kind of modern evangelical or baptits church, primarily in the South. The melodies are inoffensive and boring on the whole, but the lyrics somehow manage to be both dull and maddeningly infuriating at the same time. Perhaps everyone isn't sickened by disgusting songs where ugly women talk about Jesus like he's a hybrid of their father and boyfriend, or like he's a piece of cake that can be used for a pillow, but I sure am. I won't post any insipid Christ rock here, in part because I don't actually know that much of it and can't pick out the cringiest selections offhand, but you can dive down the rabbit hole on Youtube anytime you want. One of the hilarious aspects of Christian music on Youtube is that it's super grift heavy, I had never seen a 30 minute (!) ad for charity that was like a lifetime short before I saw one on some bible bitch's channel.

The megachurches aren't doing nearly as bad in terms of attracting younger people and maintaining their congregations as the pozzed denominational ones are right now, but they'll burn through their paypigs/clientele eventually. Religious tradition, whether your care for it or not, offers something to people and that's why the Orthodox and Tradcath establishments are some of the only ones in America who have seen increases in churchgoers.

That was one of my favourite bands 20 years ago. It's not "Christian Rock", but the themes that their frontman used (spiritual imagery) was popular with those Christian groups. The guys out and out denied the band intending to be one but the label stuck. Some of their songs are full on heavy rock/close to metal. Great band, gave rise to Alter Bridge after they split from the front man.

When they said "Jesus is within you", I think a lot of them took it too literally.

Worst one in hindsight for me was the guys they brought to sing in a funeral of someone close. Why did it have to be some asshole with an electric guitar, someone just died in an accident, his widow is there, his brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren are there, the last thing a lot of people want to do is follow along to some asshole with singing songs they don't know. Just shut the fuck up and let people silently mourn for once. It's like the idea of silent prayer or chorus singing is beyond them. Even as the guy's coffin was being lowered with the widow weeping, got to crank out another sing along one last time for him before he goes. No sense of timing or when is the right time to shut up. At that point, is it worship/celebrating the deceased, or is it ego masturbation?

I know it might be splitting hairs or some such thing but not all "evangelical/denominational" churches are created equal. Plenty of Lutheran churches are just as traditional as Catholic ones. I posted this on a different thread but it's worth bringing in here:

I know that this might be hard for some people to grasp but there are multiple Lutheran synods in America and most of them are not this.

I've highlighted ELCA, which is well known among most other Lutherans for being the most diluted, liberalized version of the faith out there. Unfortunately because they're the most permissive and have no top-down supervision of who their pastors are they're the biggest Lutheran denomination. Still, they don't represent the majority views of Lutherans.

While it doesn't invalidate your point, I feel I have to disagree with it being pulled off "just fine". Trump's taking of the stunner is generally considered to be perhaps the worst of all time. Surpassed in it's awefulnesd perhaps only by the owner of WWE himself Vince McMann.

That's the concensus since long before 2016, so it's not just TDS speaking.

True enough, but my metric was "didn't hurt anyone and got the crowd to pop". Considering he's a chubby executive with no training, you could tell they were planning for the bad selling with the camera angle cut.

As I pointed out in the riots thread, on the 1st day of the Kenosha riots, the police were outnumbered and pinned down protecting the courthouse. Their cars and isolated policemen were getting attacked, so they either stayed put or moved in force. That's why Kenosha downtown got burned, because police couldn't get cars throughout the city to deter it.

That night, they only had one vehicle that could safely leave the area and patrol or fight fires on its own.

The "why do police need military vehicles?" complaint, a favorite argument of the conservative Right for 20+ years, is dead. This is why they need them. BLM literally created scenarios where defunding the military excesses of the police is no longer an option.

Even Joe Biden's most milquetoast, generally accepted version of "defunding" the cops has been debunked. He can not keep up with world events turning his entire platform ridiculous.

The police have military vehicles because the drawdown from Iraq and Afghanistan left us with tons of the things to spare so a bunch of them were sold cheap to local police departments around the country. That's all there is to it. Attempts by the Left to rabble-rouse about it have always been founded in ignorance, just like 99% of what they say about any use of lethal force or situation that might call for lethal force is likewise grounded in profound ignorance.

When was the conservative right making that argument? I'm pretty sure it was always "Anything vaguely associated with the military is cool with us, throw money at it"

Well, more the ideological conservative and libertarian wing. After the North Hollywood shootout, things went from "cops need better guns" to "whoa WTF is SWAT doing in a suburb" pretty quick. Then the Patriot Act happened, which the same wing had objections to as well.

(The left likes to pretend that the Right had monolithic support for everything Bush did. But he caught plenty of criticism from the movement/intellectual types for years, who fought him in Congress with limited success. The image grew because those types didn't budge when it came down to partisan support.)

You're right that the deep red base was picking up tacti-cool culture around the same time (especially once Afghan/Iraq veterans came home). But they also held a distrust of government force ever since the Ruby Ridge/Waco/Elian Gonzalez incidents. And they didn't like when those fed tactics and gear started showing up in local police raids.

Can anyone explain Joe's latest sperging. By which I mean : ""I got hairy legs that turn blonde in the sun. The kids used to come up and reach in the pool and rub my leg down so it was straight and watch the hair come back up again. So I learned about roaches, I learned about kids jumping on my lap. And I love kids jumping on my lap""

This is the kinda thing you'd say blacked out on benzos

Early on-set dementia gaffes.

He's probably telling a story from the old days that of course, no one wants to know more about.

That is super old, though. Probably Biden wasn't even on the main ticket yet old, iirc.

I always thought freaking out over surplus demilled MRAPs and Bearcats and calling them 'tanks' was a really autistic argument anyway. Especially if you're going to give the media shit for calling the average AR 'fully automatic assault machine guns'.

This is the Joe Biden thread. This is what Joe wants associated with his thread. Not stale, pale, and male Christian music.

Good God, that is cringey.

I see they bravely turned the comments off. Also, the neg rating is higher than the positives. Let's hope the trend continues.
