Megathread Insane Parents of "Transgender" Kids - Parents who push a transgender identity on their children

this case is my outlier and it's challenged my thinking, which is why I shared it.[...]

Anyway, she's my one-and-only trans kid IRL who I think had wholly innocent parents (to begin with, at least) who just tried to make the best decisions they could when their child came out not at all like they would have ever imagined... sounds like no one else has encountered such a creature in the wild, so let's get back to the insane parents. They're less complicated and more fun... if by fun you mean horrifying, but this is Kiwi Farms, so... not far off!

Whatever helps you sleep at night, I guess. W/r/t insane parenting, what's going on here is pretty much this:

Back to the topic of the thread, is anyone familiar with Kathryn Mathis? She's basically the white trash Jeanette Jennings, if memory serves- MPC had a good writeup on her, but then they went dark, and ED doesn't seem to have anything on her.

I agree, but I think they really believe the 41% lie... would you refinance the house if it might save your kid dying from potentially terminal cancer? I think I would. That's the mentality that's driven those decisions... too bad "the 41%" is utter BS.
This I got from tumblr, so it's almost def faked, but I imagine someone talked to mom like this

Its definitely fake. No one puts a picture of themselves scowling as their pfp. People generally want to show their best self on social media, and a pic like that isn’t conducive to that goal

They also prob didn't count on a good chunk of the notes calling this out as blatantly manipulative shit (it's mostly cray fems, but whatever).

But irregardless, I know there are women who would believe such claims if spoken to irl...

There's been no trace of Kathryn or Coy Mathis online since the Growing Up Coy film was released in 2016. I've tried digging for updates, but their media hunger seems to have dried up quite abruptly.

The filmmakers had a successful kickstarter earlier this year to do an advocacy tour with the film, but it doesn't appear that the family had anything to do with it.

This "dead son or living daughter" false dichotomy needs to die; troons go 41% regardless.

A recent paper has been lauded inaccurately by the irresponsible press to be evidence that cross-sex surgery will "end trans suicide", but someone reanalysed the data and found that you have to "treat" 49 troons to keep one from seeking further mental health assistance -- and we are still not talking about suicide!

But I understand that no statistics will convince parents whose feel their child's life is at stake; I can only pray for them. Or perhaps seeking help outside the psychiatric or clinical psychological service might be in order. Regardless of their religious beliefs, I would advise him to at least see if the local church have relevant resources.

How old would he be now? 12 or 13? Maybe puberty kicked in and he isn't really feeling like a girl after all. I'm pretty sure there must be some desistance (or possibly mental illness) that caused them to drop out of the limelight. Mom was too eager for the fame for her to have just decided to give that up. I'm betting no one talks about it because it would be ammo for the evil terves.

Jamie Bruesehoff (she/her) is an award-winning writer, speaker, and advocate. She is an openly queer woman married to a Lutheran pastor and mom to three spirited children, including a twelve year old transgender daughter. She is passionate about sharing her family’s story, because she believes our stories are bridges to understanding, compassion, and celebration.

Rebekah is a twelve year old transgender activist, spreading her message of hope for trans and LGBTQ youth internationally through public speaking, television appearances, and social media. She’s testified before the NJ state legislature, spoken at rallies in NY and NJ, and this past summer shared her hopes for the church with 31,000 youth and adults at the Lutheran Youth Gathering in Houston, TX.

Rebekah stumbled into public advocacy as the cute little girl with pink hair holding a sign that said “I’m the scary transgender person the media warned you about.” It was absurd. She wasn’t scary at all. That was the point. It went viral. Rebekah discovered she had a voice, and she decided to use that voice to make the world a better place for kids like her.

She’s been featured by Huffington Post, Teen Vogue, The Advocate Magazine, LGBTQ Nation, British Vogue, and the Human Rights Campaign for her advocacy. She’s appeared on Good Morning Britain and Good Day Philadelphia, received awards for activism and public speaking, and gone viral with videos and images inspiring people of all ages and identities to show up fully as themselves and dare to make the world a better place.

Most recently, she’s honored to join the Marvel Universe as a part of Marvel’s Hero Project. While she believes all transgender kids are superheros, she’s honored to represent them as The Mighty Rebekah. Marvel Hero Project starts streaming on Disney+ November 12.

This crazy piece of shit mother is pimping out this little boy so hard:
Whether it’s in front of ten people or more than thirty thousand, Jamie and Rebekah share their experience in a way that touches hearts, changes minds, and inspires positive change.

Tangent to another transgender parent listed on that site:

I relate my everyday experiences to sexuality, gender identity, gender expression, and LGBTQ topics. My normal makes some people very uncomfortable. My queer nonbinary identity doesn’t make sense to some. My transgender daughter doesn’t make sense to others. So I talk about them. There is beauty in telling my story. It makes all of us feel heard and less alone.

Here are some of the topics I can speak about at your school, workplace, or event. I can also talk a lot about rainbows and unicorns. Don’t worry; I will anyhow.

How many batshit crazy lesbians out there are castrating their sons? This is becoming a thing. The slippery slope slides on.

Have the Lutherans always been this crazy or is this just a new thing? I can't imagine going to any church where the pastor's wife is calling herself queer and trooning out her son. I mean, she's married to a man, a pastor ffs -- how queer can she possibly be?

So she's queer as in special. That kid never had a chance.

This is the leader of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the US:

Here's a classic from Sweden:

The list of lesbian and gay leaders of Lutheranity does go on and on. So many soyfaced gay men screeching from the pulpit, so many lesbians aching to chop their sons' dicks off. This is disheartening. The wise elders of yore warning about the slippery slope were right, entirely and unequivocally right.

I hope this doesn't affect Catholicism anytime soon.

I know that this might be hard for some people to grasp but there are multiple Lutheran synods in America and most of them are not this.

I've highlighted ELCA, which is well known among most other Lutherans for being the most diluted, liberalized version of the faith out there. Unfortunately because they're the most permissive and have no top-down supervision of who their pastors are they're the biggest Lutheran denomination. Still, they don't represent the majority views of Lutherans.

one of these things is not like the others.png

Now this is very helpful, I never realized how many different Lutheran sects there were.

Sucks that they’re the only ones that recognize gay marriages.
Are there any sects of Christianity besides the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America that have troons in positions of power?

He should be about 13.

In the film, at 6 years old, it became clear that he was getting annoyed with being mom's performing monkey for the cameras. She had to physically lift him up and drag him downstairs for one interview. It was also clear that his triplet brother was a bit fucked up about all the gender stuff and media attention. (The dad at one point referred to "raising the twins"-- I guess the disabled triplet is an unperson now.)

The parents separated at one point, but then decided to try getting back together. I kinda felt for the poor dad trying to navigate the situation with the crazy wife, but then I remembered he was working on a "media relations" degree with 5 children to feed and my sympathy dried up.

Another interesting tidbit from the film-- crazy Kathryn grew up in a Christian Scientist household.

I'm insanely curious to know how those poor kids are doing.

I wouldn't describe them as totally different, because several synods can be in fellowship with one another in America and different countries. For example, the WELS and ELS are different enough on the surface (since they're outgrowths of Lutheranism in two separate countries with different foundations) but their beliefs are close enough that being a member in one means that you can do things like attend communion in the other (which is important if the synod practices closed Communion). Sometimes these fellowships end, though, like what happened between the WELS and Missouri Synod.
That's not even accounting for having close enough beliefs where you are working in concert with similar synods in other countries (which often are outgrowths of missionary efforts.)

I can't even conceptualize 'progressive' Lutherans... I went to a Lutheran High school (on scholarship, that particular school had the state's best GATE program) straight outta Catholic school and wow, did those Lutherans want everyone to burn in hell! Definitely me (Catholic, for "worshipping Mary" - which Catholics don't do, but facts were never involved in these arguments - and also because I never let "you're not Christian, you're Catholic" go by without schooling whoever said it on who had the best claim for being the OG Christians), along with as any woman who didn't 'wait until marriage,' anyone not 100% straight, anyone who didn't believe the Bible was 'God-breathed' and literal truth... they were fire and brimstone all the way, and made my very average Catholic parish (gay? unwed parents? pro-choice? no big deal, come on in) look incredibly progressive in comparison.

Things got interesting in senior year when we got a new school pastor, who brought his unapologetically gay (not flamboyant or 'in-your-face' about it, just gay) oldest son with him. Daddy spent so many morning chapel sessions screeching about how all the homos would burn that the school board eventually benched him two days of the week so a pastor from a neighbouring chapel could come in and provide adequate screeching about the sanctity of the unborn and how 'true love waits', since our poor pastor was way too stuck on how much two men doing butt stuff made Jesus sad to give us the complete picture of how many of us were destined for hellfire.

The son was awesome though - great guy all around and seemingly able to shrug off his dickhead dad's never-ending homophobia without letting it get to him. He was instantly one of the best-liked kids in the class (the school board only paid attention to daddy's ranting after a genius protest that began with the football team, not previously known to be obvious allies of the LGB) and he ended up living with a married couple of teachers (Mr psychics and Mrs biology) and their kids after they offered him a homophobia-free new home; boy did that set the cat among the pigeons! Last I heard he's happily married (to a man, obvs) and doing well in local politics, good for him.
