Deadly Shooting in Portland After Pro-Trump Ralliers Clash With Protesters
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/30/us/portland-trump-rally-shooting.html (https://archive.vn/9J0ak)

A caravan of supporters of President Trump drove through downtown Portland, which has seen nightly protests against police violence and racial injustice. One person was shot and killed in the conflicts that erupted.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man was shot and killed Saturday as a large group of supporters of President Trump traveled in a caravan through downtown Portland, Ore., which has seen nightly protests for three consecutive months.

The pro-Trump rally drew hundreds of trucks full of supporters into the city. At times, Trump supporters and counterprotesters clashed on the streets, with people shooting paintball guns from the beds of pickup trucks and protesters throwing objects back at them.

A video that purports to be of the shooting, taken from the far side of the street, showed a small group of people in the road outside what appears to be a parking garage. Gunfire erupts, and a man collapses in the street.

The man who was shot and killed was wearing a hat with the insignia of Patriot Prayer, a far-right group based in Portland that has clashed with protesters in the past.

The Portland Police Bureau said that officers heard reports of gunfire shortly before 9 p.m. and found a victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. It was determined that the victim had died. They did not release any information about a possible gunman.

At the scene, police officers blocked off the road and medics attended to a person who appeared to have a chest wound.

Portland has seen nightly demonstrations since the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis in May. In recent days, right-wing demonstrations have also sprung up in the city, and Mr. Trump has repeatedly highlighted the unrest in Portland as evidence of the need for a tougher law-and-order response to the chaotic protests over police violence and racial injustice that have swept through many American cities.

The Trump supporters gathered earlier Saturday in the suburbs and plotted a route for the several hundred vehicles involved in the event that would have kept them on the highways outside the city center. But some of the ralliers headed directly downtown, where counterprotesters confronted some of the vehicles. Some of the conflicts led to fistfights. In one encounter, someone drove over a bike, drawing police to the scene.

While protests in Portland have persisted, their numbers have changed over time. The nightly events began with mass demonstrations after Mr. Floyd’s death, then shrank to smaller numbers of people who repeatedly clashed with the police. In July, when the federal government sent camouflaged agents into the city, the protest numbers grew dramatically once again.

In more recent days, the protest crowd has typically numbered just a few hundred people. On Friday, after a peaceful demonstration in front of Mayor Ted Wheeler’s residence, a crowd went out to a police association building, where some of the protesters set fire to the front of the building before the police dispersed the crowd.

The police have made dozens of arrests in recent days as they have chased protesters through the streets, at times knocking them to the ground.

Mr. Trump has repeatedly focused on the unrest in Portland, including during the Republican National Convention last week, challenging the city’s leaders to end the chaos. Mr. Trump said in a tweet on Friday that the federal government would go into the city if the mayor were unable to maintain control.

Mr. Wheeler in a letter on Friday asked Mr. Trump to stay away, saying the earlier federal presence had made things worse. “Your offer to repeat that disaster is a cynical attempt to stoke fear and distract us from the real work of our city,” he wrote.

UPDATE: It appears that he has been identified, and self-identities as antifa. He also has recent problems with the law.

They should charge religious hate crime for Bishop's killing

Won't fly; he doesn't seem to have been Native (based on the fact that he didn't claim affiliation to a tribe or mention any sort of heritage, not based on his appearance) and therefore it's cultural appropriation in the eyes of social justice.

Edit: And I wanted to say something about Deborah Kafucky's statement but I still can't manage anything but a string of profanities.

Haven't really seen any video as of yet, been busy with stuff, but if how you're describing it is true, then yeah that's not self defense. If he drew first he was the aggressor in the situation, and if the victim retaliated with mace I don't think you can rule that as deadly intent. St. Kyle was clear cut, this one not so much.

Also notice that the guy is still on the lamb while Kyle turned himself in hours later, and was even trying to turn himself in at the scene. If he felt that the shooting was justified, perhaps he should have went straight to the cops to explain his end of the story. Maybe this patriot prayer dude was saying threatening shit like the manlet pedo, we dunno that until all the facts are out. But the fact that he isn't in custody yet makes me think that this dude is guilty of something, either that or he hates cops.

Or he could just say fuck getting raked through bullshit that’s only an issue if you’re not a commie.

Multnomah Co. Chair responds to deadly shooting near Portland protest
https://katu.com/news/local/multnomah-co-chair-responds-to-deadly-shooting-near-portland-protest (https://archive.vn/XyDMV)

PORTLAND, Ore. – Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury issued a statement Sunday in response to the deadly shooting that took place in downtown Portland the previous night.

A man was shot and killed at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Southwest 3rd and Alder Street as a large protest and counter-demonstration were moving through the area.

According to the Associated Press and New York Times reporters from the scene, the man was white and had been wearing a hat with the logo of Patriot Prayer, a conservative group based in Vancouver, Washington led by activist Joey Gibson.

At this point, police have not said whether the shooting was connected to the protests occurring in the area.

On Sunday morning, Chair Kafoury released a statement about the shooting, saying in part, "those of us who believe in, and are working toward, a more just and equitable community must take an unequivocal stand against the violence that structural racism inflicts on Black and other people of color, against violence inflicted by police, and against violence between community members."

Mayor Ted Wheeler and Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell are expected to speak at noon Sunday to address the homicide and other violence at protests.

Chair Kafoury released the following statement about the shooting:

"Last night, an event that was clearly intended to intimidate, provoke and endanger individuals resulted in a fatality. The loss of life is tragic and unacceptable.

"We are witnessing the self-perpetuating cycle of violence fueled by white supremacy. We cannot forget that the protests Portland has seen for more than 90 days began in response to the police killing of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man who was then the latest victim of a long and horrendous history of police brutality against Black people, itself a feature of the systemic racism that poisons our country.

"While the overwhelming majority of protestors have engaged in non-violent demonstration to call for police accountability, racial justice and the dismantling of racist institutions, we have also seen instances of interpersonal violence, vandalism and destruction.

"Then last night — stoked by a president who has gone out of his way to demonize this city and encourage vigilantism in service to white supremacy and his own fragile ego — armed participants of a pro-Trump caravan terrorized downtown Portland, driving their vehicles and shooting paintballs and pepper spray directly at community members and journalists. They came to create confrontation and were able to do so.

"This tragedy will be used to justify escalating violence. It will be used to paint an entire movement with a broad and misleading brush. And sadly, it will be used by the occupant of the White House to deepen divisions and fear.

"Those of us who believe in, and are working toward, a more just and equitable community must take an unequivocal stand against the violence that structural racism inflicts on Black and other people of color, against violence inflicted by police, and against violence between community members.

"And the most effective way to do that is to stand for and build toward something better -- to engage in the hard work of transforming the public safety system, ensuring equal opportunity and making tangible progress toward racial justice. Multnomah County is doing that work now, and we are wholly committed to the long-term work ahead."

Unbelievable. This bitch blames it on white supremacy and Trump and makes black people out to be the victims.
White woman basically are the reason why white nationalism and neo-nazism has failed in America. It has its pros and cons but however overall has been a disaster for America,

i think the biggest difference here is optics.

for the Kenosha shootings we have 4 different povs available. For the Portland shooting we have one very shitty one.

fom what I can personally tell;

45 sec of inane non important chatter and backgrounds of streets with people on them, then someone yells out;

"We got a Trump supporter here!"

very loudly.

Then another voice yells out

"Where?"

First voice: " Over here!"

Then we get 23 seconds of nothing, then you hear 2 shots in quick succession and see a cloud of smoke/mace or whatever as I can't tell because the shitty video quality.

So....I dunno. To me that don't sound like a man acting in self-defense but again the potatoe video makes it very hard to see what went down between those 4 people standing where the shots were fired.

This one will be upto the police to sort out as there is no clear cut video.

idiot’s going to let the city burn to the ground to spite Trump.

No, I'm really not.

Kyle's history - defending his sister, then getting jumped by 3 adults. Also, self-defense against a child molester, a serial wife-beater, and a felony burglar. Those last 3 adults are all accused of violent crimes.
Blake's history - attempting to shoot a bartender while drunk, felony rape, ignoring police directions while armed, and attempting to enter a vehicle with children in it, which offered the potential to escape.
Reinoehl's history - reckless endargerment for racing his 17 year old son down an interstate, while he was unlicensed, uninsured, and unregistered, and his son was high on pot and had an illegal gun.

Are you really going to pick the guys that all have criminal records (most of them violent criminal records) to defend, over the kid that tried to defend his sister from a group and got jumped, and then defended himself from a group that tried to jump him? I mean, you're free to do so, but I'm not the only one here that's going to mock you for it.

Why even bother looking up the rap sheet, though? Unless you're trying to justify someone who you disagree with or is black dying...

You racists could at least own up to being racist.

August 28, 2020

Dear President Trump:

Yet again, you said you offered to aid Portland by sending in federal law enforcement to our city.
On behalf of the City of Portland: No thanks.

We don’t need your politics of division and demagoguery. Portlanders are onto you. We have already
seen your reckless disregard for human life in your bumbling response to the COVID pandemic. And we
know you’ve reached the conclusion that images of violence or vandalism are your only ticket to
reelection.

There is no place for looting, arson, or vandalism in our city. There is no room here for racist violence or
those who wish to bring their ideology of hate into our community. Those who commit criminal acts will
be apprehended and prosecuted under the law.

Tens of thousands of Portlanders have peacefully protested and marched for the noble cause of fixing
our broken criminal justice system. They are part of the proud progressive tradition of Portlanders
fighting for justice - from racial justice to economic justice to environmental justice.

When you sent the Feds to Portland last month, you made the situation far worse. Your offer to repeat
that disaster is a cynical attempt to stoke fear and distract us from the real work of our city.

In Portland, we are focused on coming together as a community to solve the serious challenges we face
due to systemic racism, a global pandemic and an economic recession.

Stay away, please.

Signed,

Ted Wheeler
Mayor of Portland

So if he defunds the Portland Police Bureau (note: the Mayor of Portland is also the Chief of Police Police COMMISSIONER for some FUCKING RETARDED REASON) does that mean that Multnomah County Sheriffs are going to have to pick up all the slack? Or would the City of Portland be the new Stupid Portland Autonomous Zone (SPAZ)?

imagine comparing a firearms possession violation to being a pedo
You do not understand how insane anti-gun nuts are. There was a meme posted here where it basically said it was better just to die than defend yourself with guns and I have met people who 100% legitimately agreed with that. They said they would rather die than submit to gun ownership and maiming or killing some drain on society in absolute self-defense.

Why even bother looking up the rap sheet, though? Unless you're trying to justify someone who you disagree with or is black dying...

You racists could at least own up to being racist.

Yes, I'm incredibly racist against... lemme check my notes... 3 whites dudes that attacked a 17 year old, a white dude that shot someone in Portland, and a single black dude that resisted arrest. I'm especially racist, one you take into consideration that the people you sound like would happily insist that because I'm non-white, I can't be racist. You are clearly very smart, Mr Hogan.

You seem to go out of your way to defend racists, including the people who, when a black person gets shot, immediately look up his rap sheet to justify it. At least have the balls to admit you're racist.

Cool story, I wish there was a legit corncob emoji here, so I could post it for you, but the  and 🌽 ones will have to do.

Wow I can't wait to read about this event!

Or I could read people bitching about HHH and falling for MiC's bait. That is fun too.
Do both. Both are fun.
mental gymnastics
I really don't know how your eyes can miss a teenage boy beating down a smaller girl, but okay, sure. Did you just keep them closed throughout the entire first video? Though, you didn't link it, so I'm going to assume you either wiped that one from your memory or didn't watch it at all since it didn't conform to your view of the situation.
Your icon might be more accurate than I thought.
Is every /pol/tard board-tourist (>joined 2019) like you supplied with a special pair of "CONSERVATIVES CAN DO NO WRONG"-brand goggles that blind your eyes to what pieces of shit like Rittenhouse do?
Does admitting that Kyle Rittenhouse isn't the 2nd conservative incarnation of Jesus Christ harm you somehow? The amount of mental gymnastics you're doing right now to justify everything that little shit does could rival any of the tumblr cows on this site.

Here's a neat story for you, my friend.

I watched the video where Kyle gets beat down, and I noticed a critical detail, right before the black vehicle crosses frame - she assaulted Kyle. You know what immediately happened after he retaliated? He was attacked by 3 other people, at least one of whom is a 20 year old, which means he intervened in what's alleged to be a bullying situation with his sister as the victim, was assaulted by a girl only marginally smaller than him, and got hammered to the ground by 3 people, for his trouble. But here you are, moral-fagging as though women are allowed to chuck hands without consequences, and as though adults should be granted the right to pursue and assault other people, while their intended victim is retreating, without consquences.

>"you joined in 2019"
Nobody cares, moralfag.
>"but /pol/!"
Nobody cares, moralfag.

Nobody thinks he's the 2nd coming of Christ, especially not an agnostic like me, but I definitely think a moralfag that judges people based on join date to a shitpost forum has an opinion that isn't worth considering.
