I think everyone here actually hopes for the best for Melinda's kids, but those children will have two strikes against them by the time they come of age. They're growing up in dire poverty, isolated from family and peers, with a mentally-ill mother. Their role models for the last few years have been Melinda and Marshall, who's gone without a word to any of them. I doubt they will escape a lifetime of menial work or criminal records.
