To be fair, Hypno is a humanoid with some vague fox/feline vibes.
Tenatacruel is primarily a jellyfish with some vague octopus and crab vibes.
The equivalent of giving Tentacruel a human nose would be giving Gardevoir mandibles... oh wait...
Don't wanna be that guy but it's actually a tapir, since it's previous evolution, Drowzee, is based on the Baku, a Japanese yokai whose sole purpose is to devour dreams from sleeping victims.
But anyway, on the topic of bad fakemons, my least favorite category are the ones based on pre-existing characters and/or franchises. I ended up finding this shit on tumblr:
Even if it's drawn by some tween, it doesn't even look like a believable pokemon design.

Hypno has a big nose presumably because Drowzee is a tapir with a trunk and hypno is a more intelligent humanoidesque version. I assume hypno is also intentionally designed to make you "unconfortable", like a chid molester goblin (as he is depicted on 95% of the "fanart").
Anyways, i'll bring something new. Did anyone ever heard of robopon? It was a GB game infamous for ripping off pokemon but with robots. It had some wacky ass designs but mostly looked like toys or megaman enemies. Here is a list of the first game:
That being said the game still dealt on some more mature themes like bullying and seemed somewhat self aware.
The curious thing about robopon is that it actually got a sequel and it was vastly different. It has a more simple team based rpg combat, with equipable parts and magic but the biggest change is that you go around tracking "rank holders" that can only be fought once you find a unique Xstone and you travel back 20 years in time a lot to do it.
I actually played the game a few times and the best thing about itis the sheer insanity of the story coupled with a godlike localization from ATLUS. You fight terrorist egyptians, capture aliens in "gateballs", watch yakuzas explode and plant a virus on not!Bill Gates computer. All while having bizarrely entertaining conversations all the time.
This game had an "all your base are belong to us reference" before memes were cringe. Can you believe a game from 2002 had an exchange like this?
Now to the designs? They're a lot less shitty and more varied now but there are pretty obvious ripoffs of pop media, with a megaman and toy vibe. These are the starters.
You see that green bike with Kamen Rider's face on it? It's literally called RIDER1.
Here we have protoman fused with Zero named "Protpon" (only 7 slots) and not!megaman aka "soul".

There is a concerning amount of big chested female robots (more prominent in official manga art) but i think the majority of the designs is decent at worst. It helps that the names are great so you have a boat called "Nitboat" as in knightboat as in a goddamn simpsons reference. You also get gems like this:

And cripes DOM?! From Megatokyo? Talk about a time capsule. I'd say "this is why you don't put memes in games" but...heck being THAT dated kinda adds to its charm!
But yeah I know Robopon. First game sucks, sequel is better, manga looks like hentai but is completely non-lewd aside from every girl having tits bigger than their heads (no panty shots, nudity, shower scenes, excessive groping). I guess it's what the series became most known for since they actually released a special edition of the first game with designs based on the manga and in turn the sequel keeps the manga design for Martial/Razor
It's easy to complain about but when your fellow Robopons include a robot toilet and a sumo wrestler with a butt for a face? Eh...maybe it's not so bad. Heck the first game even has a hot race queen bot that evolves into an old lady.
But yeah the games are meant to have a goofy tone as does the manga and it's pretty impressive how they went from crap to a bit of a hidden gem. I particularly love that you can change your Robopon's color in the sequel. Also pretty sure it was the first Pokemon-esque game on GBA.

Robopon 2 for GBA is definitely worth playing for the story alone but it has a lot of issues and didnt age very well. It has random encounters, backtracking, recycled tilesets, grindy as hell, GOD AWFUL BALANCE and a spicy difficulty cap near end that will force you to drop 1-3/4 of your team and grind new and better endgame pons.
It's not all bad tho since, to my own surprise, the game still has fans and one of them actually made a patch to rebalance Robopon 2 RING version AND make all robopons sparkable, even the multiplayer exclusive ones (yes, that's a thing). I think it's only avaible on the robopon subreddit and if you want to check it out, you can download the patch HERE. If you want to see the balance changes you can read them HERE (you probably wont realize what they mean). It's an UPS file, so all you need next is a Robopon 2 Ring rom and a patching tool like NUPS.
And today i also realized Nexomon Extinction already came out.

You can find a Stungun in a chest in the second village AFTER it's destroyed (long story), dont miss it because the Stungun is an all class part. The canball parts say they're MOV types but can be equiped by AIR and SEA units too (thanks to the patch). The earlygame is kinda hard so train on bulbots until level 5 and spark any early pon just to fill your team. Get the kiss software (heal magic) on your pons and SAVE OFTEN because if you lose, you get a GAME OVER.

I like the idea of a cancer cell pokemon, but I would've went for a more mutated look seeing as that's what cancer cells are.

Well, where else would those go? Perhaps the topic can merge with Fakemon in general, considering the fact that most Western pokeclones haven't done much to differentiate themselves from Pokemon design-wise.
Maybe I can write up another thread about it if there's enough drama or material circulating the pokeclones.

To be fair, many of the recent pokeclone mons might as well be "fanmade" considering how often they ripoff. The real problem is that, outside of bad redesigns and ocs, fakemon drama and cringe isnt common or at least not easy to find. You'd have to search stuff like deviantart and facebook groups to find the petty shit.
Oh god, this reminds me of a brazilian pokemon fangame that looked really promising but then the demo was garbage and the creator chimped out and canceled it. Just to get an idea, it's literally a game based on a fanfic of Ash and Red (literally different canons) 20 years later. I think the demo was released near the end of 2016.

It's TWO demos. One with Ash and one with Red. I actually respect the audacity to make effectively two different games when you cant even make one. I believe it's made on some oldass rpg maker engine so it might be hard to run. I wouldnt recommend it if you dont understand portuguese... Altho, the gramar is so bad it's borderline another language.

tl;dr: It's a goddamn post apocalypse fanfic. Everyone lives in underground kanto, Ash controls the police and pokemon doesnt let anyone go to the surface, but Red wants to go to see what happened and try to help other regions, so they'll have to fight to the death to see what happens.
This story ALMOST became a real book btw. It wouldnt even be so bad compared to all the minecraft youtuber books we have here.

Since Reuniclus is supposed to be like a homunculus they could have gone with a teratoma theme for this line if they wanted an "evil version". They're pretty freaky looking tumors of undifferentiated cells that differentiate into structures like hair, teeth and tissue within the tumor. Rarely some of them can look like fetuses, only really really malformed. They're gross and disturbing, but I'm sure a good designer could use some elements to design a pokemon.
It's like Fallout Equestria but somehow even stupider.

Why are there no duo-types? Shit like this looks like it could be two types (water/psychic in this case since there's no ice type equivalent), but for some reason every Nexomon has to be monotype.
I also don't get why there's a psychic type but there's no fighting type. The two sort of act as opposing forces (brains vs brawn), so why have one over the other?
