There are some "evil genius"-type politicians (like Cheney, Pelosi, Schumer or the Clintons) who are extremely gifted in both IQ and EQ, and are able to use these abilities to gain a large amount of autonomy/independent political power.
Yet, there is only enough room in the political establishment for so many of these people to hold power at once.
Most of the establishment is comprised of people with psychopathic traits who are bright but not brilliant. I.e. people who can follow the right steps, fall in with the right people and follow their directives, but who aren't brilliant enough to be disruptive to the existing hierarchy. I believe Harris is one of these people. As are George Bush, his brother Jeb, Mike Pompeo, Gavin Newsom, etc, etc. I could go on but you get the picture.
Universities are especially good at churning out these sorts of people.

If he did force order the National Guard in without local gov support. The way these "leaders" act after the fact tends to be a tell too. all of them tried to blame Trump when shit hit the wall hard, but it doesn't stick because the leaders have the power to unlock emergency forces if need be.

In short, all these situations are bait to try and get Trump to go "aw heck to another round of this, send in the boys". It solves the problem for democrat leaders who don't have to do much of anything to solve the problem, and allows them to come out the next day with their best somber sad speech about cheetos man invading their fair city and how they really *really* wanted more peaceful protesting but white house said no.

I understand the strategy I just think there wouldn't be any NEW support for Dems that would come from the local press conferences and news afterward criticizing him, but there would be NEW support for him if he had gone in earlier, and I don't think he would have LOST any support from doing so either.

I don't think a second civil war is going to happen yet, although this is probably the closest we've come to it since 1865. If we get into a second civil war, we're all imperially fucked and so is the rest of the world. Some interesting insights on the psychology of all this in the last few pages. I will bet that all of it is being studied by the black arts nudge people.
What disturbs me most is to what degree this is created, rather than pushed along and nudged by those with various agendas. It’s obvious that none of this is organic, but then an awful lost KF the modern day horrors are not organic. Look at the trans right stuff - that’s got big backing and is pushed top down. This is the same. It’s not organic and it’s not grass roots.
It taps into a set of grievances and some of them (not all, but some) are genuine. Thinking of stuff like current house prices and the fact you now compete with a global pool of people not the small town of a generation back. But then that global pool wasn’t organically created either, it was pushed top down.
To me the only question is from what level and to what end.

Americans have this idea that urban war is a third world thing, but if it can happen in Ireland it can happen anywhere. Groups probably more integrated than many communities in the uk and USA are today.

Communism only works in tiny amounts, like a single household or maybe a small trailer park worth of families. Once you get over about 20 people/families it gets really bad. Look at how many times groups of friends try living together but no one will do the dishes.

This is a really good point and one I agree with totally. It makes perfect sense in biological terms. It works at the family unit level because altruism probably evolved that way. There are plenty of species with alloparenting for example. The family bond (should) override all other loyalties and the group is small enough to keep in check. Would you die for your kids? Yeah. How about your third cousins? Maybe not.
At each size of Grouping, there are different dynamics, from family to clan to village to city. I personally think that beyond a certain size, human groupings are unstable. See mouse utopia experiments. Cities breed degeneracy.

The main reason why Reagan was exalted by the GOP for so long is because he heralded the rise of the neoconservatives and the Religious Right as the dominant cliques in the Republican Party and this coalition remained firmly in full control until 2016, which was plenty of time to build up Reagan as this mythic figure and the failures of Carter combined with the pathetic nature of guys like Mondale and Dukakis made him seem even grander than he was.

Bush Sr. being essentially a third term of Reagan by proxy also built up the image since Bush Sr. oversaw the end of the Cold War and the victory of the Gulf War
