A lot of rich neighborhoods in the PNW issue high end H&Ks and Walthers. Seattle also has the highest property crime in the United States, so there's kind of an exotic black market for guns up here. You'd be amazed how many NBA players have a gold Desert Eagle. Glowie would make sense too but seems less likely. This is kind of dated for a federally issued pistol. I never really got onto the Saint Kyle or Kyle Is A Hero train, since he was just a kid with outstanding trigger control and nerves of steel making the best of a bad decision and a worse situation. But the more I read about him the harder and harder to just write everything off as mere coincidence.
God forbid it happens, but if you're in a home defense situation and there's a body on the ground, whatever gun you used to shoot the guy is disappearing, probably for forever. Might as well go for something relatively cheap that you won't miss, like a Glock.
Germans make some fine-ass guns, but really half of gun ownership imo is the aesthetic. It's like collecting cars, there are guys who buy those expensive ass BMWs to show they got money (H&K) and there are dudes who drop thousands to trick out a Honda Civic into a car that belongs in The Fast & The Furious franchise (Gucci Glocks).
It used to be but high speed guys have largely replaced it with either newer HKs (P30 and HK45s for one are both newer and cheaper) or Glocks. USPs are a good bit more expensive than your average polymer striker gun but not exactly out of reach like a well-made 1911 or something else truly surprising would be.
Mine wasn't cheap but out of the handguns I do have it's the one that's the easiest to replace and that I'd miss the least. I've had the most trigger time on it and it's been 100% reliable so it's also the one I'm the most comfortable using.

It's all interesting to think about, though trying to use any of it in defense of Nazi Germany is a very touchy subject, not just because "nazis" but also because genuinely, a lot of those eastern bloc countries and european countries occupied by them probably feel the far more justified reaction of "What the hell are you on about?" But this is all neither here nor there. More appropriate for a WW2 thread, though this limited conversation about it is relevant enough considering that this may or may not have factored into how things are, in our age and time.
