They thought it actually showed a kid dying. Violent and graphic content.
It doesn't.

“Most home births are fine” and “home births are better than hospital births” are why Luna ended up a potato. Are babies born healthy at home? sure. The issue is these women ignore big red flags, like being in labor for 40 hours, because they are convinced home births are better and safer than going to hospitals...and they are not.I know institutions were bad, but this new way of doing it isn’t good either.
Got called a eugenicist because I asked whether or not it was ethical to save a 21 or 22 week baby.
Most home births are fine, so I bet baby #2 will be normal.
Where’s the father? Does he say anything?

So when a home birth starts being not fine, they ignore, and believe they are being heroic moms by sticking to squirting out a baby in a hot tub no matter what. The problem is a large majority of the women enamored with having a “home birth experience” have little common sense, they use woefully unprepared woo doulas and midwives that have little medical training. Everyone is more dedicated to avoiding the dreaded hospital birth than the health of the baby. A mother going to hospital the hospital is deemed a failure, not a precaution. (Also they don’t get their full fee if a doctor does the delivery and mothers get upset being stuck with an expensive hospital bill for a emergency delivery.)
So if a woman is part of the unlucky minority that run into some common complications during labor then their baby is in real danger because of this big prejudice against going to a hospital.
Something went wrong with her labor the first time. She has no idea what, since she never got proper medical care, so it could happen again. If she, and whatever quack midwife she had, ignored the air siren alarm of two days in labor she’d be apt to ignore just about any problem that may arise.
There are certainly women who do home birth the right way and aren’t morons like Ms Empath, but unfortunately there are more women closer to Empath on the home birth spectrum than practical, safe ones.

What a fucking ghoul. What kind of parent wants that moment captured forever
Why is this kid so fat? That's beyond healthy baby fat. Steroids will make people fat, but are the parents just overfeeding through the tube?it’s the braided rapunzel reference for me
I think women want home births for two reasons (speaking as someone who has never had a child, so take it with a grain of salt):
You only need to look at any parenting forum to see dozens of posts from genuinely distraught women discussing how depressed they are that they failed at birth, failed their babies and failed to achieve what they set out to do. They simply aren’t accustomed to failing at something because that’s never happened to them before.

it is usually the baby that dies in an obstructed labor. When women die in childbirth it is usually from post partum hemorrhaging, which happens basically at random even in otherwise uncomplicated births, or subsequent uterine infection (preeclampsia is another random complication that was fatal until recently). There are problems like fistula which are horrible, too, but don't kill people generally. Women died more often in childbirth in the past but they were still many more times likely to survive compared to babies of the same era. Childbirth racked up such a death toll because women averaged many pregnancies over a lifetime back then, and of course lack of medical technology. c-section increases the risk to the mother for bleeding and infection, but saves virtually every baby that would have been killed or brain damaged otherwise. This is incredibly dumb, because women who have c-sections now (aside from the occasional perverse choice to do it optionally) would have mostly historically just died in childbirth, often along with the child.

There's more life in the beach ball
It is actually pretty common for a parent to scream disability to get that to happen. We used to bring the students to a colleges pool used for swim team and I got written up once for refusing to take one of them into the pool due to them being menstruating at the time.About Kayli.
How was her mother able to convince a mainstream school to change a swimming pool policy? Wasn't the policy stating that incontinent students are not to be in the pool? Surely that's a serious health hazard regardless of whether the child is mentally incapacitated or just has some bowel control issues. I don't see how the whole 'my [unconscious] child needs sensory enrichment!' can usurp the need to protect the health and well being of the entirety of the student body that uses the pool.
Imagine being some other kid in there during sports class and watching this thing propped up on a float by 4 other adults unloading a massive shit in the shallow end.
Absolutely correct. It does have to be monitored really closely however, because beyond the basal requirements of breathing and metabolism, she is still growing. Sometimes the need changes though, and if they're not being monitored well, their weight can shoot up fast. My tube fed kid was putting on more weight than I was happy with after getting her trach. It was figured that she was expending so much energy on struggling breathing during all of her pneumonias that once it became way easier, she had way more calories than she needed, so we're shaving them down now.The thing about these kids is they don’t move. They can’t. Their calorie requirements must be absolutely tiny. So although I think she is overfed, it probably doesn’t take much to over feed her.
Do you have any particular insights on this thread as the parent of a special needs kid?Absolutely correct. Hairy Potty, crystals, spirit animals, dream catchers= occultIf you're looking for a new family to follow may I recommend this one? They've got everything! Fundamentalist (possibly Mormon as they are in Utah), disabled adopted black baby/white saviour complex, essential oil mommy blogger who thinks the kid is a prop. Not sure what's wrong with the kid, but she basically never wakes up and looks to have microcephaly. View attachment 1549655View attachment 1549657View attachment 1549658View attachment 1549665
I had a woo woo friend who was hell bent on having her daughter at home. Midwives, doulas, etc. She labored for something like 18+ hours and finally the midwife tried to convince her to go to the hospital. She was firmly against it, even though her husband was begging her to go. What finally made her go was the midwife saying "Do you want a baby born alive or dead? Because if you continue like this, the baby probably isn't going to make it. I don't have the tools or equipment here to promise you 100% that your baby will be born alive & healthy."
She went to the hospital & ended up having a perfectly healthy baby, but the doctors said she should never have labored as long as she did & her daughter could have been seriously hurt or killed if she had continued another hour.
I think women want home births for two reasons (speaking as someone who has never had a child, so take it with a grain of salt):
One: They want it their way. Total control. No strangers, no weird hospital smells, no itchy bedsheets or weird gowns. They can have all the essential oils & ocean sounds their hearts desire, all the crystal placed on their bellies without sideways glances from the nurses, 100% validation (I say this as someone who has a sister in L&D who has told women who are screaming like a goddamn maniac that they were being dramatic, all that screaming is energy you should be putting towards pushing. Do you scream every time you're constipated? No), all the sweet words, encouragements & no negativity.
Two: They feel it makes them more of a mother or woman. Oh, you had an epidural in a hospital? I pushed my baby out in a creek bed as the sun rose over the hills, wearing my crystal crown while my midwives chanted and my husband caught the baby in a handwoven basket full of rosemary and lavender. They feel it makes them a better mother or closer to their baby than others, maybe. Meanwhile, there's my sister, who gave birth in a hospital, had no epidural or drugs, but her son broke her goddamn tailbone in his way out. That makes her a hell of a mother & woman to me. The fact that we as women can grown another human being inside us, push it out (or cut it out, doesn't matter) of us & then continue to live is a goddamn miracle.
Childbirth is a very personal experience (again, never had a kid). But I feel like some of these mothers are like bride-zillas. "This is my day! I've been dreaming about it since I was a little girl and no one - but no one - is going to ruin it for me!" And things can and do go wrong. With a wedding, the bottom line is you got married to a person you love among family & friends, who cares if the ring bearer farted on the altar or the roses weren't the specific type you wanted? With having a baby, the bottom line is do you have a healthy baby and a healthy mother? Then you win. Did you have to give up things like crystals and sage waving to go to a hospital because the baby was in distress? Sure, but your baby is alive & healthy.
Which is more important to you, the experience or the result?
Are you saying your sister says that to birthing women or she had that said to her when she was giving birth? That's an extremely cunty thing for a healthcare professional to say. People like that are what empower these homebirth freaks to flatout avoid proper medical care and kill their babies.I say this as someone who has a sister in L&D who has told women who are screaming like a goddamn maniac that they were being dramatic, all that screaming is energy you should be putting towards pushing. It's so unethical to waste occupational therapy resources on futile cases like these. Think of how many kids in the world would greatly benefit from OT but their families can simply not afford and access it. Yet brainless babies like Claire, Lola and Luna get it when it will do them no good. Their brains are so useless, they might as well be anencephalic.Luna is blinking and Ms Empath is overjoyed.
"her eyes really stand out"
you don't say.
