She should have at least found a few other people to go with her. Even under perfectly normal circumstances, it's not wise to hang out in a busy urban areas alone. Fuck the pepper spray, at least carry a taser.
I'm normally not one to "victim blame" but any TERF worth her salt should know how mentally unstable troons are and be able to see this sort of thing coming. Everyone's seen the way they chimp out and make violent threats online. Announcing that you're a TERF in a crowd of troons is like dousing yourself in tuna salad and jumping into a tank full of sharks.
For anyone wondering, this is why the "don't hit girls" maxim is a thing. Frankly, you shouldn't be hitting anyone, but attacking someone physically weaker than you are is always a dick move. Phil is a coward through and through; he abandons his kids, ditches the military, and beats up women. He thinks he can run away from being a failure of a man by "being" a woman. I'm not saying she wasn't foolish or naïve to attend the rally alone, but she was exercising her basic rights to protest, and peacefully at that. She didn't engage with them, she didn't verbally insult them or attack them (she wasn't give the chance), she didn't bring a knife or a gun, she brought pepper spray. And she was basically beaten for that. For daring to express her beliefs.
Had she died, it would it have been seen as just in the eyes of the trans activists? To those that attended that rally, probably. Apparently they have the right to protest, but she does not.
If she chose to press charges, given the amount of tweets made about this event, I daresay it'd be a fascinating case.
