I really don't get your current obsession with pointing out that Trump made a campaign promise he probably won't be able to follow through on. There are still tons of campaign promises he made in 2016 that haven't been realized yet. Not for lack of trying, as the House and Senate have been stopping him almost every step of the way, but yeah, politicians, especially presidents, overexaggerate their worth and make promises they can't keep. There's not a president in history that hasn't done this.

Will Trump outright stop the riots on day 1 of his new incumbency? No, probably not. Has he *been* trying to stop them within the confines of his own powers? Kinda seems like it. Does he seem more interested in stopping them than his opponent? Most certainly. His statement was bait for Biden to try to embarrass him for basically ignoring the current crisis and provide hope for Americans that someone actually has their interests in mind. I think he needs to take responsibility for things he has done whether good or bad, but I wouldn't say riots and protests that turn violent that happen in the states is something that he solely should take responsibility for, and I think it is the states that need to take responsibility for it and ask on him to enact. He has no influence on the state unless they ask for him for federal assistance.
