fun fact: proof is half the percentage of alcohol (in the US at least), because in most foods in the US stemming from the 1850s or so, you must have at least half the liquor be alcohol (ethanol) to legally claim that it's liquor for sale. it was also taxed by this measure, and business was pretty serious about meeting the legal requirement to sell alcohol because selling watered down drinks is an easy way to lose customers and get sued. so 50% alcoholic content was chosen as the minimum content, and this was set as "100 proof" as a scale of measure since 100 was a nice round number.
Originally, "proof" came from the Navy term "gunpowder proof," which referred to what would be now called 114 proof or 57% alcohol. Sailors would pour a sample from the barrel on gunpowder and try to light it. If it would light it "proved" it hadn't been watered down. This was before they actually did start watering it down (at least for enlisted men) as a matter of practice to stop them from saving up their daily ration for a while then drinking it all at once to get blind drunk.
In regards to his eating habits, I think that he's a binge eater.
Does he get his loon money the first of the month? Has just immediately eating it all in one day been a thing in the past?
