Yes, I'm sure the late residents of every dead empire thought the same, particularly those of Rome, as they watched their legacy last hundreds of years and found nearly half the concepts for inventions we use today, becoming a focal point of the globe - there exists no such thing in Human nature as static permanence, lol, all things must change, all things must evolve, all things must die; even if this country were to collapse a century from now under the weight of whatever-the-fuck problem pervaded us by then, it'd still prove the point - if you honestly think a melting pot of circlejerked chaos is sustainable without either collapse or everyone there-in losing their identities and individual purpose, then I'd point you to learn a bit about Human history.
