I got into an argument a couple of months back with one of my co-workers about Trump, and she said "Trump's father was a member of the Klan," as if that was an argument. First, there's no proof that, only that he was arrested at where a rally was taking place and later discharged. Even if Fred did don the sheets, that really doesn't have a bearing on who Trump is in the present, as you pointed out.
Watergate people are the worst, whether it's Carl Woodward, John Dean, or Hillary Clinton. They never got over the high that they got from taking down a fairly popular president, and most never let you forget that they were on the legal team that never had a chance to present their case in an impeachment trial. It must be frustrating not to control the media narrative like they were able to back then.

The saddest thing about Watergate is that Nixon won re-election in a landslide on a platform of law and order and crushing Leftism. People loved him. You'd have to be an idiot to think he needed to cheat to win.

Interestingly, I remember bringing up when old Robert Byrd (Heart of the Democratic Party according to Hillary Clinton) was still alive how he was a former (or possibly "former") member of the Klan. The lefty I was arguing with literally said "That's probably a lie, but if it's not I'm sure he's very sorry and that it made him an even more ardent crusader for civil rights after he repented." That was straight-up their rebuttal.
That's why I never give them the benefit of the doubt, and never assume good faith. Because the very possibility that Trump's father was a Klansman is enough to condemn Trump himself, but the open and known fact that one of their own was a (high-ranked, no less) Klansman is somehow actually to his credit. They don't care about the Klan or racism, they only care about Republican and Democrat. Those are the sole things that matter to them in their lives.

Paul Krugman would like you to know that the 100 days of Antifa rioting you've been watching on livestream did not, in fact, occur.
You saw nothing and there was no violence. Antifa never spent 3 months trying to burn down a courthouse with people in it. Antifa didn't do a targeted revenge killing of a Trump supporter in retaliation for a 17 year old boy BTFO'ing their goons in Kenosha. Kenosha wasn't burned down, and Seattle didn't have Marxist insurrectionists take over a 6 city block neighborhood and terrorize them for weeks.
None of that happened. Krugman has spoken.
I don't remember this guy, other than he was a pretty big name in the bubble back in the day.

After multiple previous ones go unnoticed, Twitter finally deigns to recognize one of the Trump boat parades. Gets the full NEWS EVENT treatment and everything.
I can't imagine why this one is news, and not the one 3 weeks ago or the world record breaking one in June. Or the other Trump boat parade in NJ today, or the other one in Minnesota, or the other one in KY. No, out of 4 parades going on today, only the TX one gets to trend.
Looks like waters got rougher than forecasted, which caused some boats to swamp. Although no injuries were reported, everyone is very sympathetic and concerned for people's safety.

I got word from an on-the-ground friend who lives in Kenosha--there was loads of enthusiasm for Trump when he visited. People were turning out in droves. By contrast, Biden spoke to a crowd of a dozen or so reporters. My senior citizen parents are sending me Kyle Rittenhouse memes. People have had enough of this shit, and Paul Krugman can go eat yet another dick.

Yeah, there were pictures of both -- Trump had massive groups of people lined up on the sidewalks to see him. Biden had... about 15 people in a park.
They memory holed both pretty quickly.
