Looks like the trend of recoloring Japanese or "white" characters to be black is getting more popular on Twitter! We live in a society.

I have had to unfollow a lot of artists on twitter lately, as their art either went 'woke' or they clearly jumped on political bandwagons. Mostly just Japanese/other foreign artists left now who still do their usual good stuff.

I'm reading through modern character design books and the western ones always always have long fucking diatribes of critical race theory and appealing to marketers. It's about as soulless as you can get because everything revolves around checking the most check boxes.

The japanese ones usually say "find someone or something that you think looks cool and try to base a character around that"

Now then these are fairly recent books, this shit didn't start appearing until 2009-2010. I've got books from the 1970's and they don't even pull this marxist bullshit. I mean Roger Dean just drew stuff he personally liked or he thought was cool while also building scale models of shit he wished existed.
