I don't like guilt by association, so I don't think the simple act of talking to a commie makes you one. There are people who will basically talk to anyone. One day they'll be talking to a commie, the next they'll be talking to a libertarian, then a nationalist, and so on and so on. The problem is that Shoe is almost exclusively hanging out with commies nowadays, and she has a track record of cutting off friends for ideological reasons, so she's far from an "I'll talk to anyone" person.

If Shoe isn't a commie, she's at minimum a communist sympathizer, which to the right-libertarians that make up a significant portion of her audience that's pretty much just as bad.
