Having a "rating" system isn't the bad thing - you taking stickers on the internet seriously is.

There's also one huge difference between this system and reddits circlejerk karma-system that you simply fail to understand. Stuff that gets rated negatively on reddit gets pushed to the bottom or even hidden, while positive stuff gets pushed to the top - that's why reddit is a stupid circlejerk.

Meanwhile stuff with a ton of negative reactions gets highlighted here.
