Umm... the blacklist was created by the HOUSE on Unamerican Activities. The big problem with Joseph McCarthy is that he was correct about communists trying to infiltrate the United States (it was the Cold War where both the United States and the Soviet Union would send in spies and influencers to screw each other over) he basically got mad with power that would lead to him destroying himself and his political career later on.
It began with Joseph McCarthy targeting the entertainment industry at the time believing that homosexual communists were infiltrating United States and also managed to blacklist several films in the attempt to 'expose' communists in the country then.
This would then escalate with Joseph McCarthy targeting writers, scientists, musicians, college professors, school teachers, historians, journalists, actors, and others that held moderate or left-wing views and this would continue on for several years.
So what finally did in Joseph McCarthy was when he broke one of the very few golden rules that no American politician should ever break, he dissed the U.S. Armed Forces where he accused people in the military of being communists and homosexuals and this is what destroyed him then.
The last thing that any American politician should do is disrespect the military because Americans see the military as the most respectable institution and Americans (especially American families that have military backgrounds) don't really take too kindly to people that openly disrespect the people on the front lines then.
This is what finally ruined Joseph McCarthy and then he became an alcoholic and drank himself to death as he faded away from being relevant.
The lesson to be learned here is that if you're going to fight monsters then you better make sure you don't become one yourself then.

Which would have been hard for SENATOR McCarthy to participate in.
The Tydings committee never investigated Hollywood.
You're basically mixing up 2 different events in American history and getting them kind of wrong.
