You know how when there's a campfire and even the tiniest bit of wind, there's a side of the fire that's full of smoke and you stay out of it as much as you can? The smell and air quality are like that everywhere as soon as you leave a sealed building. It's not the worst smell in the world, kind of like an active wood shop, but you instinctively know you should not be breathing in much of it.
