The psych evaluation specifically stated that it was a teenage cousin, which does put some things into perspective. Even if the cousin was the same age as Nick, that encounter probably messed up Nick's psyche pretty badly to the point where he thinks pedophilia and incest is okay.

You know how he thinks after puberty girl's unmentionables open up and become disgusting?
Maybe I'm humanizing him too much, but that sure suggests trauma to me, so I'm going to take this "this was reported to be consensual" with a grain of salt.

I hatehatehate these double standards how women can boyfiddle all they want "because everyone knows they want it". Can we plz condemn all kiddiefiddling as a society?
[/sperging]

Of course, the age of the cousin wasn't specified so maybe I'm just getting worked up over nothing.

Women in general are brushed off when they're found out as assaulters. My experience as a kid was at the hands of a female and it isn't really taken seriously. I've got a lot of "lol hot, lesbians" and "whatever, she just wanted you to feel good", when I've seen the same people react to the same kind of story (except with male abusers) to be appalled and show overwhelming support to the victim. Thanks, millenial feministsokimdonetoo

What the hell does he mean by "open up", anyways?

Something like this...

Reading 70+ pages of people hoping that decades of abuse at the hands of America's hopelessly deranged prison system makes Nick even more mentally unhinged than he already is made me feel a little bit of pity for him, but reading the Twitter logs posted by @maddipuppy brought me back to my senses and understand that a harsh dose of remorseless reality is exactly what Nick deserves.

I can't believe that bit about needing someone to teach him how to wipe his ass or bathe himself. It really shows you how disconnected his brain is. Even if nobody showed little baby Nick how to do that on his own, as a functioning adult he should have the capacity for adaptive learning to just... figure it out. He's Internet-savvy enough to google "how to wipe own ass" or "how to bathe"--I'm sure there's a WikiHow article for each of those. :) But maybe he didn't want to waste his limited Internet minutes on unimportant things like self-improvement when he could be using them to send tweets about how much he loves butts.

I deal with sex offendesr ... its part of my job but as someone who has read some of the most twisted sexual crime case law around(people do very unspeakable things), and Nick still makes me feel ill, now the only thing I will say is he MAY belong in a secure psychiatric hospital rather then prison but I can't see him being found unfit and anyways those places are not much better then Jail

Oh God. I looked up his ED article. This guy is only two weeks older than me. :surprised:

Well, I may have my own insecurities about my life and how it's going so far but at least I'm not a about to be convicted pedophile who's most likely gonna spend a couple decades in the slammer.

...Yeah, I think that covers everyone here not named MrZ.

Things like this are another reason it's good (for Nick) that he's likely to be kept segregated from other inmates. Nick is exactly the kind of idiot who'd go into the full details of his crimes, and how it was totally okay to do all these things and the law is stupid, basically begging to be the target of creative violence like that.

I kind of feel like, in a face-to-face context, he'd be pretty quiet. Paranoia and all.

He expressed, many times over, how socially awkward he was. He said he wouldn't even open the door if someone was knocking that he wasn't expecting. If he's in with other prisoners, he's curled up in a corner somewhere. He's probably all cried out though and has a thousand-yard stare.

So I take it that on the 16th is the preliminary hearing at the magistrate's office? If so, then I think I'll hold out for the trial/sentencing. And unlike Chris' latest string of bullshit court dates, I expect this to go a bit faster. Hope to see some fellow Kiwis there.

Seems reasonable enough. Unless @Saul Goodman has actually looked into this, for all we know, this is just a calendar placeholder event for a preliminary hearing that will never happen. These hearings are routinely waived. This may be a case where the penalty is dire enough to insist on even a formality, though.

Anyone who is considering attending any of these events should try, discreetly, to find out exactly what will be open to the public. I'm not sure how persnickety Pennsylvania is about privacy concerns for sex crimes cases with minor victims, but some of these trial court proceedings may not be open to the public, or may be only open in part.

In any event, stuff before a magistrate in that goofy little country court are likely to be formalities with not much interesting going on. Once it's bound over for trial in the Court of Common Pleas is where things might get interesting. Or where they might be partly or wholly closed to the public. I don't know for sure.

I bet the main reason he was afraid to answer the door was because he thought it was the cops coming to arrest him

If only I could have gotten to see his reaction when they really did come a-knocking. He probably started shrieking and/or tried to hide before they came in and detained him, and then afterward probably made a childish suicide attempt and thus that was why they placed him in solitary.

I am VERY dissapointed that Nick hasn't been burned alive inside his cell yet. I mean I thought that pedos were supposed to get mangled by the other prisoners once they were locked up. There has to be at least one crazy violent mother fucker with a soft spot for kids somewhere in that place there just has to be :(

Prisons are generally pretty good about keeping the people in danger away from the dangerous people. Nick isn't gonna get shanked. He's going to rot in a lonely cell 23 hours a day for the next 15-40 years.

That's better than a brief, albeit painful, death.
