Netflix's "Cuties" - The Preteen Sexual Objectification Equivalent of "Funny Games"

I felt disgusted watching just a few seconds of the clip. It's a sexual dance, it's supposed to be sexy, but it being a little girl made it viscerally wrong. I felt dirty watching it and had to turn it off because it just shouldn't be a thing that exists.

Anybody defending this is a pedo or pedo enabler, simple enough.

Because they very likely are. For circumstantial evidence, see the Baby Burlesks films of the 1930s (Shirley Temple stars as an 'exotic dancer' at the ripe old age of five). Hollywood has been trying sneak pedophilia into acceptable mainstream consciousness for decades (Lolita, Blue Lagoon, Leon the Professional, etc.)

Because it is. It is pretty much always been ruthless and logical socio-economic calculus that a woman can live more comfortably being one of the king's concubines than she can by being a soldier's wife. Always has been so.

How dare the mob not want pedobait! How absolutely dare they! Don't they know that when a black female pedobaits people, it's progressive and daring?

Tbf, Lolita was a book first, but I see where you’re going-and I agree

Look, just because I understand what you were trying to say doesn't mean I approve at all how you did it.
This is a film that I can't find a good way to 'fix', it's just a mess from start to finish. Really, it should have been a book, no real kids involved in the telling of this at all. But, then again, what audience is this trying to court?
At the end of the day, I don't think I could explain what I would be watching to someone who just walked in. Cannibal Holocaust? Easy explanation, it's a horror made to seem like found-footage. Serbian Film? It's a shock film representing the climate of Serbia at the time, it's not real. Cuties? It's... kids twerking and doing either extremely Islamic things,,,
I dunno man, people had to make this thing and I don't trust them to not be freaks.

There were clips on Twitter of the movie. I felt dirty just from seeing a couple seconds of it while scrolling past.
The clip I saw a few seconds of induced a feeling of Lovecraftian wrongness. It was like my brain couldn't reconcile the fact that a little girl was doing a dance intended to be sexual with the fact that kids shouldn't be sexual.

I watched the movie, because everyone was freaking out over it. Honestly, it’s fine. It’s the downward spiral of a young girl trying to feel like she belongs, which leads to her falling into a group of other girls desperately trying to gain popularity and acceptance.
That just sounds like Social media and early 2000s forums

Blaming QAnon is the new GamerGate. I never seriously believed in Q, but the amount of kvetching going on about it is giving me major Streisand Effect vibes.

They wouldn't be shitting themselves about the unwashed masses suspecting pedophile rings among the elites if there weren't some kernel of truth to it.

They should be kafkatrapped on this, like they do to us with racism. "Denying that you are a pedophile PROVES you're a pedophile!" Give them a taste of their own medicine.

Okay..so...not sure how to link tweets other than lonking tweets but ...no. way.

This is pedo.

If you think this scene is fine youre a pedo.

True, but Nabokov wrote the screenplay for Kubrick's film. I mentioned Lolita only because that's the reliable go-to that everybody instantly recognizes, but in the book, Nabokov doesn't glorify Humbert or Dolores. If anything, he points out that Humbert, who imagines himself a clever literati is a manipulative, jealous, and petty man who needs to ply Dolores with bribes for her 'attention' due to his arrested desire for the love of 'nymphets.'

I read Lolita as Nabokov taking the piss out of the 'if it feels good, do it' Bohemian artist set.

The IMDB page says the film features bare 11 year old breasts and brief rear nudity.

There goes the "It's just a movie about dancing" argument.
Can't wait for the ScreenRants pitch meeting video on this one.
"What've you got for me today?"
"Oh I've got something really special. Something straight from France."
"Oh, France, that's cultural."
"Yup. You remember Pretty Baby, Louis Malle's film on the sexualization of children that controversially depicted an underage actress nude?"
"Oh yeah, that's such an important topic."
"It is, but Brooke Shields was just taking a bath. What if she was twerking?"
"Hmm, I don't know, naked twerking children might not play in Peoria."
"Okay, we'll put them in leotards for the twerking, but we'll still show their tits and asses in another scene."
"Why?"
"Why not?"
"Good enough for me."

I don’t see how you can tell a story like this without actually forcing the viewer to SEE this stuff. If you’re not seeing it, if you’re not uncomfortable, the movie isn’t doing what it is setting out to do.

Could've made it a documentary. If a topic is this serious I think wrapping it up in fiction sugar just dilutes the point. And it comes off as more weird when you think about the adults involved with shooting the film telling little girls to do this stuff.

Here's the hideous bull dyke and literal pedophile apologist who penned this trash.
