Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought this was made by an immigrant woman who thinks the sexualization of children in the west is gross and intentionally shot this as provocatively as possible to upset people? My sister grew up with these influences and did this kind of stuff and you can see it anywhere if you go on tiktok or instagram so I'm not exactly sure why the outrage is happening now when someone blatantly points it out when it's been going on for a while.

If you have been given the great opportunity to become an internationally renowned filmmaker, you could give globally relevant issues like this relevancy, since it's probably a part of your lived experiences. In Requiem for a Dream, one of the most famous scenes is of the female lead and an unnamed other girl going "ass to ass" with a double-ended dildo in front of a crowd of men in a sleazy strip club for heroin money. While the scene is very sexual, it isn't even remotely sexy. Compare that to Cuties, which makes everything look pretty and zooms in on the little girls' asses every five seconds and treats the material as more funny/quirky than horrifying, and you see the problem.

Man, the lengths my brother is going to to defend this movie are mad. His arguments went a something like this:

“People are being reactionary”
“The clips you saw were out of context”
“It’s supposed to make you uncomfortable”
“The people saying this also watch hentai” (this was in response to me questioning the movie’s decision to criticise the sexualisation of children by sexualising children)
“It’s less morally objectionable than A Clockwork Orange, because that movie had rape in it”

After that last one, I just decided to end the conversation then and there.

Like, how many people are normally auditioned for a movie role? I personally don't know. I'm sure normally there are several dozen people auditioning for any given role. Maybe even a hundred especially if there's a bunch of stage moms pushing their kids to get famous. That in itself isn't really a good thing especially if the parents had some inkling of the plot when going to casting calls. But yeah, did it really take 650 girls to find one that can act and dance decently?

Back in the old days a child star would get to their young adult years before going mature or "sexual", but I guess people want to cut straight to it now. Sick fucks.
