I searched the tubes for a clip with the original actor voices for comparison and coincidentally came across one which seems to be from the same scene of the same episode, though not exactly the same clip.


Sooo… frankly I find the Japanese voice a bit grating too, so maybe Rial doing this voice isn't such a bad fit after all. Really, the male character's voices sound more different than Uzaki's.

Sub Uzaki is annoying in a cute yet smug way. Monica's version sounds like it's a bit of a turbocunt. Also, Monica's version is too deep, Uzaki is a bit high pitched.

It does tbh, there's some slight echo too. Mostly in Sakurai's lines.

I talked about this before, I'll just say the same thing here.

There are 2 very possible instances to this:

1: They saw all the negative media about how they mistreated Interspecies Reviewer and heard all the call-outs about them having absolutely no standards. So in an effort to "own the trolls" they thought they could prove us wrong with one bad decision.

2: Monica knows the controversy & realised that Uzaki haters will probably go after Monica to an extent. It would have nothing to do with the Vic drama. Monica might have to defend herself and the character from those haters. her simps will protect her and say anyone against the decision hates Uzaki. However, Monica wants to make this look like a Vic Drama thing & gain some sympathy points out of it.

Think about it, The SJWs wouldn't DARE cancel Monica for taking THAT role. Right? They went through all this work to cultivate a fan base for her so now, they have to either take a stance or FOLD on their attacks on Anime through Uzaki-chan. They're standing in middle of the war. The rage against Anime (& calling fans of such pedos) OR, Monica the 'untouchable victim' trying to get on with her life.

If they attack Uzaki-chan now, they attack either Funi's voice director to get Monica for her or Monica's own decision to voice her.

I got flashbacks to Gamemaster from Yu Yu Hakusho. It's her boy voice....why use the boy voice on this girl?

There's no way I could watch this dub. I'd have trouble back when I liked Monica. Horrible I know but I did like her work.

I just checked the Gamemaster voice, my god you're right. Also he sounds like a bitch, which is ironic, cause I'm pretty sure YYH dub is considered in good dubs of times.

Never saw YYH tho, so IDK his character, but seriously bad sounding one tho.

It's really noticeable in Sakurai's lines, much less so in Uzaki's but still there here and there.

Out of all of the limited range voices Monica can pull off, she went with that one. She could have made Uzaki sound, at the very least, slightly decent, but alas. . .


I don't remember Vito or whatever his name is but he sounds like he shouldn't be around people ever again (especially children)

I actually full heartedly believe that Funimation cast Monica as Uzaki to "own the trolls". Which, of course, is extremely professional.

Lol, funi hasn't had talent in about a decade

I think what played a part was Monica saw that people liked the character, saw the controversy, and decided that this would be another "best girl" role she could play. Except she's horrible at it

Well....

Gamemaster is a boy whose parents don't love him, got picked on at school then he develops special powers. So when a stranger is nice to him and gives him video games to play with he decides he's totally cool with helping the guy end the world just as long as he can stay underground and play video games. We're supposed to feel sorry for the kid because the bad guy tricked him, or because he doesn't really get what's going on but I never felt sorry for him.

One of the mains kills him but another brings him back to life because...you can't kill kids?

One of the reasons I hated the kid is because of his voice 😂

I hope this comes to pass. If only because it'll prove to Sony that regardless if they have employees or contractors, workers on their property can be the most damaging thing to a company
