I have to say I respect him for not giving the kids on Masterchef Jr his usual aggressive treatment.

Well they’re kids, they’re still learning. He can yell at adults because they should know better.I have to say I respect him for not giving the kids on Masterchef Jr his usual aggressive treatment.

He's apparently a very good and kind father. As a result of having an abusive father/shit background and druggie brother, he said in the "Born Famous" tv show those still guide his actions and is still at the back of his mind all these years.I have to say I respect him for not giving the kids on Masterchef Jr his usual aggressive treatment.
Couldn't begin to tell you what season it was, but I remember watching a Hell's Kitchen episode and one of the contestants griped about something. Gordon clearly starts to laugh or at least grin widely in response, but the camera cuts. Now he's the one puttin out the pain and people take it so fucking personally. The TV shows highlight his ranting and raving but seem to cut out his level-headed stuff.
British reality shows tends to be a lot less edited, the US version is definitely playing up his angry chef persona. I find American editing to be very... obnoxious in general. It's clearly manipulative to cut up people's dialogue and then they have to constantly play dramatic music on top of everything, but admittedly US Kitchen Nightmares is way funner to watch (like observing restaurant-owning lolcows) while the UK version gets too sombre for me.His UK shows give a more rounded insight into his personality. I want to say it was The F Word that showed a versatile range of his moods. UK Kitchen Nightmares is also incredibly relaxed compared to its US version.
This might be a false memory of mine, but I'm pretty sure there are re-edits of Kitchen Nightmare US for the UK audience that are a lot more tolerable.British reality shows tends to be a lot less edited, the US version is definitely playing up his angry chef persona. Oh nicemasterchef reruns are back in fashion thanks to lazy streamers
Nah, its probably quite easy for Gordon to eat without getting sick, its just that the places on Kitchen Nightmares are the absolute bottom of the barrel, most unhygenic venues ever. I don't have a particularly sensitive stomach but I know if I ate at some of those places I'd be out for weeks.I always wonder what Gordon eats in his every day life because he seems to have a really sensitive pallet. Obviously things are played up for TV but if he legitimately can get sick as easily as he does on Kitchen Nightmares and the few other places I've seen him eat, it must be pretty hard for him to eat anywhere or anything he doesn't prepare himself. It's probably why he's such a great chef but that's quite a problem to have.
It really is a fascinating picture of the differences in the two countries' entertainment industries, that doesn't reflect well AT ALL on Americans. The UK Kitchen Nightmares is good, but the U.S. version is a fucking embarrassment. I don't think I'll make it past season 3, since every episode follows the exact same pattern, and that overproduced American reality TV style is just painful.
The editing, the dramatic music constantly, it's infuriating to watch. The narrator not being Ramsay himself doesn't help either. I really loved the UK Kitchen Nightmares, even the later ones that he made. There was The Great British Nightmare or something like that, which were just two restaurants but were a very welcome return to form for him. I believe there was also a small 4 episode series Costa Nightmares where he went to Spain to help a few British establishments there, which had a few colourful owners to say the least. The UK Kitchen Nightmares is good, but the U.S. version is a fucking embarrassment.
