Couldn't they have at least gotten somebody that's, I don't know...talented?
Funimation doesn't have "Talent" the janitor probably has more range and control then any of the "VAs" there.
Reminder that she was a hairdresser before Funimation. If you've seen her own hair, then you can already tell how "talented" at that she is. Seriously, look at her most recent pic.

My father cuts my hair better than her.
I've only read the synopsis on Uzaki Chan but if I were directing, I'd probably cast someone young who could pull off "high energy little sister in college" as Uzaki Hana.
They should've gotten Faye Mata for this, she's actually talented, worked for Funi cause of Isekai Quartet & has some godly range.

Hell, they could've just used Brittany Karvowski. But no, gotta give Monica the best girls, even when she doesn't suit.

Hell, I hate saying this, but even Sarah Weidenheft would've worked.
Lol, funi hasn't had talent in about a decade

I think what played a part was Monica saw that people liked the character, saw the controversy, and decided that this would be another "best girl" role she could play. Except she's horrible at it
Yeah, I think there's a very high chance behind it
Well....

Gamemaster is a boy whose parents don't love him, got picked on at school then he develops special powers. So when a stranger is nice to him and gives him video games to play with he decides he's totally cool with helping the guy end the world just as long as he can stay underground and play video games. We're supposed to feel sorry for the kid because the bad guy tricked him, or because he doesn't really get what's going on but I never felt sorry for him.

One of the mains kills him but another brings him back to life because...you can't kill kids?

One of the reasons I hated the kid is because of his voice 😂
Thanks, I actually really wanna binge the series, it's literally on my Netflix List rn, but some say the fillers are too good to skip & Netflix doesn't have them (All seasons total combined still reaching a 100 episodes tho), there's also a bit of procrastination happening with me.

First thing I thought when I saw Monica's depo video was "Who the hell raped her hair !"I dont know what you call it other than a trainwreck or "the hairdresser was drunk when she did my hair" .

Not Vic related, but voice acting related.

How about you look for, I don't know, talented actors/actresses?

I've only read the synopsis on Uzaki Chan but if I were directing, I'd probably cast someone young who could pull off "high energy little sister in college" as Uzaki Hana.

Luci Cristian would've been able to pull it off if they weren't going to go with one of their newcomers. If Sentai Filmworks had gotten the rights, I believe Hilary Haag would've been able to do it, though I think they would've gone with Brittney Karbowski. Hell, if Laura Bailey were still with FUNimation full-time, she could pull off Uzaki.

Monica uses that voice a lot, but I think that's the voice she used for Renge, you know, the psychotic yaoi fangirl. But that might also be her actual natural "This is my voice I use around other people whenever I get really into a conversation", because there's a reason she keeps being typed-cast into loli roles, she has vocal fry. Which is funny because Luci can do loli voices, too, and not just because she's a tiny woman. She has the right energy for Uzaki, not the hag who gets exhausted and cries over tweets calling her out for her lies.

Naomi Oozora has a bit of a scratchy high voice when she does Uzaki's obnoxious parts, but otherwise has a normal somewhat-deep voice for a woman other times. And the voice-actress has voiced young characters, too, such as Inari Fushimi from Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha. and has the appropriate voice for them, but that deep voice is also used for characters who have some age or experience to them like Kiriha from Tsugumomo. This is a range that Monica doesn't actually have, but this is Luci's actual range. This is a total miscast just because FUNimation really hates its audience and doesn't give a shit even though Luci is still very much an active member of the company, and Monica is clearly the favorite for whatever reason.

And usually they're to do auditions even though everyone knows each other there. The ADR director may have a good idea who to cast as certain people, but they should still do the audition process, otherwise it just comes off as favoritism and maybe laziness, too.

Sakurai sounds off, but whatever. You guys might know Ricco Fajardo best as Itona Horibe (Assassination Classroom), Daryun (Arslan Senki) and Mirio Toogata (My Hero Academia), and he might not be giving his best here. Honestly, I think the at-home recording FUNimation has been doing just isn't working out well for a lot of the actors, quality has clearly taken a hit since Corona-chan made her rounds. Which isn't saying much because their simul-dubs haven't been great, either, but at least people were being directed in person.

So yeah, FUNimation dropped the ball here, but I think they really don't give a shit anymore and will continue to blame the haters for why they aren't selling this series as much as they thought they would. Also keep an eye out for anyone pointing out any egregious script-changes in future episodes, because if there's no audience to catch them, no big deal in pissing off people (especially the creators).

EDIT: OH, I almost forgot about Jessica Calvello. I think she could pull off Uzaki better than Monica despite being a couple years older, she has the right voice and energy for the obnoxious parts. Given her roles as Excel and Hange Zoë, I think she'd have been a good fit.

I guess they forgot the original American Speed Racer series had ONLY 3 VA's
doing all the characters voices and that held up over 50 years and still going strong.

No, it was four. The budget limitations the dub was on meant they were limited to three voice-actors (not six like Peter Fernandez was hoping for) who were getting paid $125 per episode. Writing and directing was $250 an episode, and yet:

By splitting his total earnings with Jack Grimes (Crimes in the credits), he kept his name off the voice-acting credits, but he still was credited for the directing and script. This is the kind of integrity you don't see anymore.

Its amazing how these people who can't understand that there are people who don't like Monica as a voice actress and it has nothing to do with Vic. Plus they don't like Funi after openly admitting to changing dialogue for their own agenda and their lack of variety when it comes to using VA's. Its funny how people who complain about Vic sounding the same in all of his roles then ignore but when Monica voices a kid/petite her go to voice is

Well, here's how she sounded a decade ago. 0:39 if timestamp fails.

Peter Fernandez was the real shit.

Someone in the manjaw thread pointed this out. Its all sex to them, calling people incels or virgins and self projecting their insecurities about sex onto people.
Which is telling of how empty and insecure they are. There's what, very nearly 8 billion people alive on the planet today? Does that number imply sex is in any way difficult to achieve, and thus a marker for any significant personal victory?

These people seem to especially love to level those insults against young men that don't directly align with their perception of the world and other people. If those dudes knew how actually easy it is to get sex, whether with men or women, that would quickly cease to hold any psychological wounding abilities against them.
