Nobody here wants Desmond hurt. The parents are the ones being discussed and criticized. Things like Desmond's makeup and wardrobe are, I think, legitimate topics of discussion--as indicators that these aren't things he's choosing on his own. If the kid was really passionate about drag, we'd see him experimenting, improving, trying lots of things. Instead, he's clearly being used as a surrogate or clotheshorse by his mother, and the makeup and costumes reflect that.

And not to add to the autism pileup, but yeah, count me for one more on the "kids who played dressup across gender lines" thing. I distinctly remember arguing with my brothers over who got to wear the old Army helmets when we played war in the backyard. A little messing around is one thing, and I think a lot of imaginative kids do it, particularly if it's a mixture of boys and girls. Desmond could have gotten into his mom's makeup or wardrobe once or twice ... and she decided to run with it, and here we are. Poor kid.

It's not abnormal for kids to play with their opposite gender's clothing. It might be more common for girls, but only because it's more socially acceptable for girls to be masculine/wear "male" clothes. I mean, not to sound cliche, but Simpsons did it:

Even if Desmond does enjoy doing drag (he obviously doesn’t), none of the outfits he is being forced to wear by his mother are ever age appropriate or look like something a modern child would enjoy wearing. He is always dressed as some cheap 90s crackwhore (..)
I think the most in your face example is the American Horror Story picture.

The show actually has a trans character, a man who enjoyed dressing as a woman and later adopted the full identity and called himself "Liz Taylor".

But no, Desmond was dressed as Sally, the actual cheap 90s crackwhore of the show, the one that ended up killing her two friends during a self-induced heroin trip in the middle of an orgy and then was raped by a demon with a drill-shaped penis as a punishment, the one I'm sure Wendy would have love to hang out with or be herself.

I don't know what's worst in this situation, that she dressed her child as Sally because she thinks she's cool or that Desmond actually asked this...

I genuinely thought Piggylou was trolling us (and all her critics) when she dressed Desmond as a literal 90s crackwhore. It’s as if she’s aware people are on to her, but also knows she is getting away with it and is flaunting it.

For the record, this is the monster that raped Sally, the character Desmond dressed as:

The quote was "I love her story" in reference to the AHS batshit insane Trans character. The familiarity with the subject and obvious lack of boundaries makes me believe Desmond has seen most if not ALL seasons of AHS as they potentially premiered. I guess this is my projection of thought but i feel like Wendy went "its just like Goosebumps" and exposes her child to M rated content.

For comparison this scared the literal shit out of me when I was 8

Desmond was marching in pride parades already and making a GMA appearence by 11. Hes probably seen AHS.

Call me a conservative if you like but IMO the only way a preteen should be watching 18* rated horror movies is behind their parents back.

I’m not stupid enough to believe that everyone strictly follows the ratings (I’m ancient so used to have to get older looking friends to rent 18 rated video tapes for me) but your parents enabling and encouraging exposure to adult material causes additional fuck ups to the developing brain. Knowing you are viewing something your parents wouldn’t want you to watch insulates you from accepting demon-rape (and by extension, non-demon rape) as normal.
Paedophiles often start out the grooming process by showing underage kids pornography. The kids are naturally inquisitive, if a bit scared and the adult encouragement fucks with their ability to reject it (or to eventually discover a version of it that works for them as an individual, because the early exposure is tied up with it’s relationship to an abusive adult).
The allegations made against Michael Jackson are a clear example of this.

It works with other stuff too - kids sometimes shoplift, that’s a relatively normal thing to do when you are young and the impulse control part of your brain hasn’t developed yet. If an adult uses you as part of stealing-to-order organised crime shoplifting gang, the likelihood of growing out of the natural phase and developing proper, healthy adult impulse control diminishes.

So a little boy in lipstick and a feather boa is a normal phase that most kids will just grow out of - what happens to the brain when your mum makes you keep wearing that feather boa way beyond the normal stage of development, and makes you globally famous for wearing it?

Sadly, the answer to that question is only going to become apparent by watching Desmond in the coming years.

Personally, I‘d like to see him eventually come out as straight, marry a woman thinner and significantly more attractive than his mother and moving to the suburbs under a new name, getting a job in accountancy or property surveying etc.
Not because I’m a homophobe but because there is no better way to get revenge on an abusive, overbearing parent than by rejecting everything they tried to teach you and being happy and successful in your own quiet way.
The most effective way to rebel against Wendy is by being as boring as fuck (and by being financially stable enough to raise your own family but not having enough to keep crazy momma afloat as well).

*AHS Hotel episodes are a mix of 15 and 18 age ratings

Hotel is like one of the hardest Horror Stories to stomach regardless of ratings. I did eventually convince my Mom to watch The Haunting at a young age...the Haunting seems so mild to even one episode of AHS

It’s too bad Fat Whore Wendy most likely pissed away all of Desmond’s savings from his “Drag Kid” appearances and he will have to start from scratch once he reaches adulthood.

I agree in general too not just because of the implications in this thread but because they were a lot more fun to watch when you knew you weren't allowed to.

Honestly...call me old fart, but for someone who just turned 13, I don't think any seasons of AHS are appropriate. Not because of the gore, but because of the shit like rape, incest, school shootings, sexual deviancy, human experiments...I mean, I can't think of a season of that show that doesn't have at least ONE topic, that is totally unsuited for under 15's no matter how you spin it. Watching behind parents back is one thing, like the other user said, but something with these themes I would NEVER show to a child Desmond's age and be like, "see? this is good and cool."

I just hope Desmond hasn't seen the other seasons of AHS...I didn't seen Hotel, but I know the first four seasons are not for children in any way.

It's like every season they try to find a way to be even more fucked up and gruesome. Which is fine, but it's not appropriate for preteens.

Anyone else find it ironic that this event Desmond was honored in is presented by a children's Health Care company?

Why does Fat Whore Wendy keep using that photo to promote Desmond? He looks freakishly ghoulish and practically unrecognizable. It's probably one of his worst pictures, and that really says something.

Now I really want to start watching AHS. ( And isn't that the dude who played all those weird killers on Law & Order?)

AHS is good tv...just not at all for kids.

...that doesnt seem healthy. Kids should look forward to growing up and changing.

This exactly. If a boy puts on makeup or a dress, why should anyone give a shit?

The issue in this thread is Piggy Lou forces him to look that way and then perform as some sort of half-assed stripper for adults to feed off the attention he gets.

I would wager that, at some point in their lives, a very high amount of American kids will have worn clothes meant for the opposite sex. A five year-old boy trying to put on makeup isn't uncommon, for example. It's just a kid fucking around with paint in a way they saw a parent do, it happens all the time. A girl clomps around in her dads work-boots or whatever, it's not a big deal.
But people like Piggy take that as "I'm a genderspecial drag queen." That's the issue with all of this insane nonsense. Just because you've dressed up as a girl, that doesn't mean drag will be your 'hobby', or your mother's tugboat. For all we know, left to his own devices, Desmond could have found out he loved bodybuilding instead, gay or not. Or chess, or coding, or literally anything. He's a young kid, but he's already been pushed into this at the detriment of anything else he might want to do.

It’s so funny that the whole Desmond is Notsexual™ brand is marketed as “his mommy loves and accepts him for who he is,” when she clearly doesn’t. Piggylou has been grooming and brainwashing Desmond since he was an infant into her own perfect vision of what a little faggot looks and acts like and the child is now terrified to sway even an inch from what he was conditioned and released into being, which is the complete antithesis of “unconditional love.”
