Hell, I used to run deliveries to Amish communities. There was this little old Amish lady I delivered to, she was about four foot nothing, probably pushing 80. She kept a twelve gauge right next to her screen door.
Also not to be discounted, most of the men are strong as a fucking ox too. I've lived around them all my life and nobody is stupid enough, not even tweakers, to try burglarizing Amish homes.
It's like an unspoken rule even among the local criminals: Don't fuck with the Amish.

It's kind of like the Mormons, really. Peaceful, non-confrontational, usually very friendly and amicable people but you do not want to piss them off.

This is an oddly specific whine to start with.

That said, things are looking quiet so far, the one person on a mic and they're not getting the crowd "fired up" exactly.

My grandma has quite a bit of land in the back of her home she rents out to a farmer that lives down the road (his fields are in front of her house). I sometimes see the guy when I visit and I swear he has been driving the same damn tractor since I was a kid. some of those things seems like they will last forever as long as they are maintained.

Some days I do catch myself thinking about dropping everything, selling most my stuff, and moving out there. With how crazy people have gotten living away from people to mend fences, chop wood, clear brush and muck barns sounds pretty appealing sometimes.

It is fortunate they are capable of speaking, and being sober enough to speak coherent words much less an actual coherent sentence.
