He barely understands the basics of janitorial work, which he has been doing for over a decade and still manages to get kicked to the curb for. In fact, the janitorial aspect of his life may be his greatest success, not because he is good at it buthe isn’t so bad at it that he has a 100% failure rate. And that is not to disrespect janitorial work either, I come from blue collar workers, and good ones just have a way of making things better. I mean, a janitor is probably who thought up the magnets on vacuum cleaners, storing the roll of trash bags inside the trash can between the trash bag and the can itself, etc, things you really think of when you do thevolume of work. My relative who was a janitor started buying dollar store back scrubbier because they worked much better than what she was originally using. After a decade Russ can still get janitorial job, but can’t always keep them
asking him to have a clue about stuff he does much less and is of a much higher cognitive level seems unfair.
That being said, it seems like he has no genuine passion for these things either (music, law, ...) beyond a means to an end. And for as sex obsessed as he is, he never mentions much about sex beyond getting it/not getting it, so i don’t even sexual skill is a desire of his. It is sad both how little he is good at and how little passion he has for life. But then, he also has a shit personality, so maybe not so sad...
